"Corruption, Mismanagement and Theft"

6-29-09 DETROIT (AP) - The financial situation of the Detroit Public Schools is so bad the district may have to file for bankruptcy, a state-appointed overseer said Monday. Robert Bobb said the district will enter the next school year with a deficit of about $259 million. To solve the sins of the past ... the budget cuts would be "too radical," he said at a budget presentation. Michigan's largest public school district has overspent its budget for the past seven years.
