Submitted by ron4prez on Thu, 11/29/2007 - 03:34i'm a hardcore ron paul supporter, believe me...but what this guy said is right. If only Ron stood toe to toe with mccain and let him have it!!!!!! Still, i hope for a better debate from Paul next time.

win?
kers How can you "win" when there there is not an objective?hmm Win what?
kers
emotional
kers Ron became emotional after that attack. That did not serve him well because when emotions are involved people tend to lose there train of thought. Stay cool Paul. ^_^

McCain vs. Paul
McCain also called Ron Paul an 'isolationist.' One possible response to that might have been, "John, it seems to me your life experiences the past 50 years would have made clear the differences between isolation, intervention, and non-intervention. If this nation had followed a policy of isolation, most people would never have heard of Vietnam. With a policy of non-intervention, we'd have a lively and friendly trade relationship with that nation. It is the interventionist policy that you support, Senator, that resulted in 59,000 American deaths in Vietnam, and for the fact that you spent more than five years confined in a North Vietnamese prison camp."
That would have made headlines.
What the ...
McCain looked like a complete douchebag -- first, he BLAMES the "public" on the "loss" in Vietnam, then he goes "rah rah rah" we gotta win. Win what? Wasn't it "mission accomplished" years ago? The guy is completely senile and apparently has learned nothing from history.
Ron Paul Wins Another Round ~ The Nation
The Nation
RON PAUL WINS ANOTHER ROUND...Arizona Senator John McCain tried to resuscitate his ailing campaign for the Republican presidential nomination by attacking Texas Congressman Ron Paul's anti-war stance during Wednesday night's CNN/YouTube debate.
But, as in previous Republican debates where leading contenders have stumbled in their attempts to attack the renegade congressman, it was Paul who ended up drawing the cheers of the crowd....

WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU
WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU WATCHING. Ron DESTROYED McCain. Ron was absolutely dead on with everything he said. McCain showed serious desparation by avoiding his question to challange Ron. Maybe Rudy didn't tell him but, Challanging Ron does nothing more than add and additional 2 million to his campaign and another 5 million of FREE PRESS. What do you think people are going to think when they hear that McCain said Americans cause us to lose Vietnam. McCain is done, finished, end of story. Ron went Toe - to - Toe and crushed him. NO one and I repeat, No one has more knowledge on history than Ron Paul, Period. And when Paul said he recieved more money from the Military than any other candidate, it was the kiss of death. It was a polite way of telling McCain, "What you say does not matter". McCain forgets, Ron served as well, he just wasn't captured and brings it up all the time like McCain. These Neo-Cons can't touch Ron. He did great. Again, its not about being charming, or cracking jokes, or saying you are going to blow everyone up. Its about Ideas, Integrity, and defending the Constitution. It's about Ron Paul 08'.
What??
Anderson Cooper wouldn't SHUT UP while Dr. paul WAS TRYING to rebutt the INSANE McCAIN..
It wasn't the Good Dr.'s Fault... It was Anderson Cooper letting McCain HIT... and STOPPING Dr. Paul when he tried to hit back..
Never the less... Paul was ABSOLUTELY right!
I was pleased to see Ron
I was pleased to see Ron talk through A.C. He took McCains best shot (on the only issue McCain proports to be an expert on) and made McCain look like a complete fool. One of my family members who was not a Ron Paul supporter prior to that exchange came over to our side. Now I just have to get her to sign up for the meetup group ....
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

Get her to vote
Make sure she is registered and plans to vote and/or attend caucus, that is what really matters!
maybe i'm biased
but i thought ron paul won that exchange. i love the shaking of the head that ron paul gives mccain. i could see it in ron's eyes, "you're not right john. you're wrong. nope, nope, nope!"
i think the media should run with the exchange, and use the following as the headline "john mccain blames united states for WW2"
some one should give john a history lesson on the treaty of versaille.
(and a lesson on the constitution... of course the line item veto was unconstitutional! congress can't expand the power of the executive w/o an amendment to the constitution! sheesh!)
I pledge, do you?
I saw the same thing!
Go back and read the transcript. Ron Paul mopped the floor with McCain...and the eye contact with the no..no..no ... McCain never turned back after that...did you notice he looked straight forward when Dr. Paul responded...What can he say...the supposed War hero is getting trounched in donations from the military by a 140 lb man advocating getting out now...I'd say they spoke volumes about the truthfulness of McCain's claim...(and I suppose the military should just move their families over to Iraq too..in McCain's head)...this guy can't even admit Vietnam was a mistake...30+ years later! He's done! Good bye McCain!

Let Us Win?
McCain is done. Let us win--define winning. We lost the moment we decided to go in. All these war mongers ought to grab a helmet and a gun and get out there. Let us win, what a joke. RP 2008

John McCain decided to swing for the fence on Wednesday night at the CNN YouTube debates and Ron Paul never really stood a chance. Paul, the only Republican candidate to oppose the war in Iraq got very little love from CNN, which many will find odd, and lost big in the eyes of many during an exchange with pro war candidate John McCain. Dr. Paul wants the US Troops out of Iraq and at home and touted the fact that more military veterans have donated to his campaign than any other candidate.
Ron Paul Clubbed by CNN, John McCain: Missed Opportunity
That's a great point but unfortunately, that seemed to be lost when the wrath of John McCain was aimed directly at Paul. It is a tough fight for anyone to take on McCain on military issues, let alone a non-interventionist like Dr. Paul.
***
I am frankly not a fan of this entire YouTube format, it is near idiotic at times and certainly it was another debate where Paul was short changed with time. But even so, the casual viewer will come away from the exchange and side with the war veteran McCain. (One note - Paul also served in the US Military). Here's how the exchange was described at the New York Times.
"McCain Hits Paul Mr. McCain must be worried about Ron Paul taking independents away from him. He veers off-question and attacks Mr. Paul, who opposes the war in Iraq, telling him that his kind of isolationism “is what caused World War II.""
***
He gets booed and applauded. He goes on: “We allowed Hitler to come to power with that kind of isolationism.” He brings up his Thanksgiving trip to Iraq and says the message to Mr. Paul from the troops is “Let us win.” Mr. Paul notes in response that he gets the most money from active duty military personnel.
He says Mr. McCain has distorted his views and that he doesn’t understand the difference between non-intervention and isolationism. Mr. Paul concludes, We don’t need to use force to tell people how to live.
***
Paul is likely accurate and his views are often distorted. But this was a big opportunity for him to set the record straight and it appears he failed. Paul supporters will clearly believe he won the debate, he said all of the right things for them.
CNN was unfair to Paul as was McCain. But this was a blown opportunity. That's too bad.
I pledge, do you?
It aint so
Just because an article tells you something does NOT make it true. This article is telling the reader what to think, I saw things differently.
I also think that the look that RP gave John "Billy Bad Ass" McCain spoke volumes! It was a knowing look coming from another Veteran that served, what?, 6 years active duty. It is not a "major blow" to RP at all.
