Highland Park municipal code:
Sec. 10.035 Ordinances repealed.
This Code, from and after its effective date, shall contain all of the provisions of a general nature of the City pertaining to the subjects herein enumerated and embraced. All prior ordinances pertaining to the subjects treated by this Code, and adopted prior to August 14, 1967, shall be deemed repealed from and after the effective date of this Code of Ordinances; provided, however, that nothing contained herein shall affect any rights, actions, or causes of action which shall have accrued to the City of Highland Park prior to
the effective date of this ordinance. All prior ordinances adopted after August 14, 1967, but prior to the effective date of this ordinance shall not be deemed repealed by the adoption of this ordinance, and shall be construed and take effect as amendments of this ordinance.
if you have the right to grill on private property before this code, then it is not affected by this code.

I fight the city all the time with this. They tried to make me take down my ron paul signs...I said "didnt I have the right to have this sign in my yard long antecedent to this municipal code?" the replied "yes, the code changed that"
I then said "not according to the code Section A1-20"
they have left me alone for a while...12 citations in 9 months, now 3 months with nothing.
Can we get
