I know you guys have many good ones, here are 2 of my favorites that I believe speak to the current crisis.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee. Deuteronomy 15:6

Some of my tags from recent studies...

2 Peter 2:19 - While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

1 Corinthians 8:9 - But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

Galatians 5:1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:13 - For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

1 Corinthians 10:29 - Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

James 1:25 - But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Galatians 2:4 - And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage...

2 Corinthians 3:17 - Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Leviticus 25:10-17 - And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession. And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not oppress one another...

Galatians 4:22-26 and 31 - For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. ... So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

How about where

Jehovah tells the Israelites not to desire a king like the other nations because he will tax, draft, and oppress them (and they demand a king anyway)?

you refer to

The first book of Samuel, chapter 8. It is a fabulous account. It does not get reported like this in history books that are fond of the Greek democracies, but Israel was the world's 1st democracy. And it is still the most enduring in human history. It lasted 360 years, from the time after Joshua when they were told to elect their own leaders right up until the account in 1st Samuel when they ask for a king so that they can be "like the other nations".

Good point....

And it will be one for many more I bet since.....it goes full circle doesn't it ..

There are so many scriptures...

Psalm 119:45
And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Jeremiah 34:15
And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour....

Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:13
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

.....and many others. 1st Samuel Chapter 8 is a good account of what God thinks about central government.

My favorite is right in Romans

"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1:22)

It isn't so much about freedom as it is about the masses and how they are dumbed down on their own will, and ignorance.

"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1:22)

Thanks!

I love the book of Ephesians!

Isn't it an odd

feeling when you read your favorites and how spot on they are? It's kinda creepy. We get so caught up on being so advanced that we don't think that they dealt with the same issues as us. Human behavior doesn't seem to have evolved much, does it? I hope you get some more quotes and bumps.
