When the same question is asked more than once...
...that's the time to say "Talk to my lawyer."
If you ARE a suspect: STFU.
If you think you MIGHT be a suspect: STFU.
However, refusing to talk to the cops when you are NOT a suspect, could put you in the frame.
I'm not a cop or a lawyer, but I have seen how the police operate when I worked in retail loss prevention.

Frankly....
I no longer feel safe around police at all, some police I would definitely defend myself to the death and shoot in self defense.
Most police thankfully I see follow their own laws, and I feel safe around them. But you have to be real honest about it, and that is, there is a lot of corrupt police out there and the CIA runs a racket of protection...
