Reuters: Ron Paul strikes Gold
By Chadwick Matlin
Ron Paul's legislative history is a lesson in principled failure. Among the bills he has co-sponsored: ending U.S. cooperation with the United Nations, a repeal of antitrust law "to restore the inherent benefits of the market economy," and stripping the government of the right to set a minimum wage. Just last week, he again introduced a bill "to repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990," which would presumably make schools less safe but which would reinforce our right to bear arms. For Paul, ideology almost always trumps politics.
None of these bills, I should note, have picked up much support. And Paul's track record with economic legislation isn't any better. His perennial efforts—shifting the country back toward a gold standard, abolishing the personal income tax, and dismantling the Federal Reserve—are nonstarters. They so change the very fabric of this country that Paul can't marshal his colleagues to his side.
Which is why Paul's most recent legislative accomplishment is so impressive. He has rallied the majority of the House to support his new cause: an audit of the Federal Reserve. Legislators are sick of not knowing what's going on inside Bernanke's fortress, especially as the Fed becomes further enmeshed in the nation's fiscal policy. Paul's little bill has become emblematic of a larger movement, one that could spell trouble for Obama's troubled regulatory plan. Ron Paul—always an enemy of regulation—is now an enemy of Obama. And a mighty powerful one at that.

Love this
"Never underestimate Ron Paul."
Shame in the author for this sentence:
They so change the very fabric of this country that Paul can't marshal his colleagues to his side.
His colleagues (and their predecessors) are mercenary sell-outs - those responsilble for the loss of the gold standard, establishing an income tax, and creating the Fed.
These were never meant to be the fabric of our society.

Yet they were....
My my we slipped down a real slipper slope when creating the monster from jeykyll island, didn't we...
Gifted?
"The Fed's responsibilities have matured, but its personality has not. It is still the gifted child that can do whatever it wants—and its parents are still so in awe of its intelligence that they don't ask any questions."
Well if that lovely gifted child sets his room ablaze with his chemistry set, it may be time for the parents to do some auditing.
It's like the writer just KNOWS he's against 1207
But he just can't figure out why. This article read like a term paper written the night before it was due with no research material but a matchbook and tv commercial.

I am receiving really old bills when I purchase for cash. They are old and all beat up. There must be a reason there is no new issuance from the Treasury. What are you experiencing in your areas???????????

The author is confusing rights with powers. Rights are inherent, and so cannot be stripped by anyone from anyone. Rights are also reserved to the people. Governments cannot have rights, only powers, which are granted to them by the people. The sentence should have read. "... and stripping the government of the power to set a minimum wage."
The word "right" is so
The word "right" is so misused and muddled now that nobody seems to even know what it means anymore.

This writer
Contradicts himself, first he says that Dr Pauls efforts to dismantle the FED is a non-starter, then says he's struck gold by rallying the majority of the house to audit the FED, which should consequently dimantle the FED. Where do these people learn the doublespeak, talking out both sides of their mouths. I find it terribly irritating. Check in the hit piece box.
It's people like this and the people that reads this crap and are influenced to inaction that creates this mess this country is in. When we reestablish this republic lets promise to dump these scum into the ocean packing a bag full of Diebolds.
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
Ron Paul strikes a nerve with the FED
The only merit this article does to Ron Paul’s audit the FED bill, is that it recognizes Ron Paul’s excess of principle in never giving up in exposing a corrupt institution like the FED.
This article is nothing more than a hit piece on Ron Paul’s quest for transparency from a secretive federal reserve, not only does it call Ron Paul a “radical” for following the constitution, but the author tries to implied that “His vendetta is fueled by the belief that the Federal Reserve is unconstitutional, a central bank within a country that doesn't allow central banks.” As if it were some sort of secret belief that the FED is unconstitutional, because the fact remains that it is unconstitutional.
I hope this article makes people investigate the FED and the reason why Ron Paul is sponsoring H.R. 1207, the article’s title should be (Ron Paul strikes a nerve with the FED).
BTW
screw the condescending tone of this article. Writers purposely write this way to irritate us.
'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul
good point
I would love to see a neo-con and far lefty go on the show and actually debate an issue like HR 1207. Paul made a good point about the difference in MSM American media versus outside the US. He mentioned the journalism here is a shouting match where you couldnt explain your point.
Bill O and Paul exchange comes to mind.
Orielly and Paul comes to mind.
That douchebag on MSNBC comes to mind.
If the Judge controlled the show, the debate would actually occur instead of shouting matches.
Really good point...
'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul
No mention about the bill HR1207 by name?
Thanks for the link
Thomas Jefferson once said, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."
Well, I guess he called that one.
A Republic, If You Can Keep It
Witty and well written
Witty and well written article. Recognizes the formidable force Dr. Paul has managed to assemble.
The article states that the
The article states that the problem with making the Fed more accountable is that the agency will becomes more a part of the government than it already is and that the Fed isn't supposed to be a part of the government.
WRONG! Although it was created to be public/private, the problem with it is it is a private monopoly. The only part of it theoretically that is public is the Board of Governors, but that's a joke. The prez selects from a list of candidates that secretly are hand selected by private bankers.

Reuters Ron Paul Strikes Gold Article
I sent Reuters an email referencing the above article. I asked them if they know what banks and foreign countries the Fed is sending money to and what that money is being used for. In any case, hopefully they will investigate and let the rest of us know. One of the golden rules says "those with the gold rules". The US Congress should be in control of our money supply.
GANG? Ron Paul is not a collectivist gangster to my knowledge
The word, "enemy", in the title got me because I don't like that term being tossed about in describing Ron Paul to Obama. Ron Paul is NOT Obama's enemy. They may have opposing views on issues, however, that opposition is friendly. Ron Paul is not an avowed enemy. Those are very powerful and dangerous words in these times of terrorism advancing the governments sensitivity to opposition of principle in politics.
The last paragraph is the article:
But something has to give. Paul's Gang of 244 is fed up. They're ready to kill something. It will probably be Obama's regulatory plan. Then again, with Paul leading the charge you never know. It may be something central, something federal, something reserved. Never underestimate Ron Paul. Even if there's no reason not to.
Disturbs me greatly, as I don't appreciate this perspective. The third sentance is NOT TRUE! We are ANTI-WAR/ ANTI-Violence and our approach to opposition with Obama is peaceful dissent, as MLK, Mother Teresa, Ghandi.... of which the third sentance does not apply either.

Maybe it would be better if no one talked about HR 1207, and no one feared the freedom movement? I am the one who used the word enemy. I learned in Minnesota that in order to win, you have to make the opposition fear you. When I say fear, I mean politically.
You have to laugh at this statement.
"But if he makes the Fed more accountable, the agency becomes even more a part of the government than it already is. This would be fine, except for the fact that the Fed isn't supposed to be a part of the government. So there's that."
There's what?
The fed shouldn't exist, period.

indeed.
Same for me, it was... "strange" reading something like that ...
not bad
not bad
I have noticed...
that Bernanke looks nervous..or worried the last few times he has been before congress. He does not appear confident and he attempts to side-step questions by not giving any specifics or details. He looks like a kid that has been caught lying...but still refuses to come clean. Yep....I expect the power players will attempt to squash 1207...and that will look even more suspicious.
I think we may be in for a show-down in the classic David v.s. Goliath mode. RP and his army against the FED! We are headed into the belly of the beast. I hope RP is checking his security...I am concerned...the beast plays tough.
Good find...thanks for posting it up.
Look them in the eyes and...
Dare them not to pass HR 1207.
