360 GUESTS & 64 USERS? Anyone have an Answer ?
I happen to be someone whom usually reads the Daily Paul on a daily basis. I usually donot post unless I feel I have something to say, or have something detrimental to contribute. I was just looking over the site & saw that there are 360 guests online & only 64 users logged in with only 7 opinions or responses to someone elses opinions. The question that came to my mind was, "Why the BIG disconnect from others opinions and feedback? I, myself LEARN from others own experiences as I have NOT become perfect yet...: ) So, I may miss a day or 3 coming to the DP, but I have never seen it to where the statistics appear to be overwhelming to the numbers that I am seeing with my own eyes. This in my own opinion NEEDS to change my friends of FREEDOM! What is the DEAL? Any Ideas? Lets talk openly please. Thanks!

I think people are
busy and tired. They want to keep aware of what is happening but don't want to get involved. Take it a day at a time and make the most of it. Peace, Hope, Love

Some of our users get caught up in minutia, i.e. misspelled....
words, and syntax. If this was an English blog, I would understand.
Is the meaning of a thread lost with a misspelled word? I would say, no.
Using Firefox will tell you if yo have a word spelled incorrectly, but the meaning and comments on the thread is what you want feedback about.
Thanks Katie for pointing out the user/guest ratio to us. And yes, in an ideal world, every word correctly spelled would be great.
By the way, at noontime, it is now 392 GUESTS and 57 USERS.
For the love of communication, look up the word "detrimental"
Later, folks...
Much, much later.
BOTH of you missed the point, so eager were you to see what you wanted to see in me.
COMMUNICATION requires you know the meaning of the words you use.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Sometimes things get lost in translation...of the typed word I suppose. No harm.
Good for you for diving in and posting this
excellent question, Katie.
I wonder how the percentages compare with other "movement" oriented sites; knowing that would inform us whether this is just typical of sites where the most active people are always a minority. Also it would be interesting to know if the percentage on the DP has shifted lower.
The most frequent problem I've seen discussed is the quick-tempered faction that flames anyone who posts something the flamers disagree with.
A few frequently are not only rude but even persecute targeted individuals and try to discourage their posts on any topic.
When I first came to the DP I lurked a long time before gathering the courage to post. Often it still takes courage to call out those eager to rip up the person posting instead of the idea they don't like.
Anyway, welcome Katie and all who haven't taken the plunge yet. The more positive voices posting here, the better the information and community support will be
Hi reed!
Thank You for your welcome response! Ya know statisticly...the numbers just arenot good for the few that are posting and the actual people reciprocating . Anyone with even a modicum of thought and perception for statistical analysis would be able to objectively come up with the low percentage that it is. As for the "quick tempered faction" then I would say that it is time to SPEAK UP & SPEAK OUT to those who indeed attempt to quell or put a halt to FREEDOM OF SPEECH...Period. :)
I lurked a long time too.
I lurked a long time too. But I think that's a good thing, because I learned.
But over time I've seen more and more trouble makers. I'm not talking about the Bob Barr spammers. I'm talking about those who come across as someone who wants and needs attention. You know how some children who are ignored will act up so that they finally get the attention they are craving? They do not help spread the message of freedom. Instead, they seem intent on demoralizing others. If I were new here, I would be cautious about posting too.
But overall, this is still the best liberty loving, freedom spreading site on the web, IMO.
I used to be a heavy
poster.....but I just lurk in the shadows know. I don't want to trigger a fire fight. It is not worth my time. I like to read what people have to say, but most times....if it goes into a fight.....I just go to another thread.
In my opinion.......most people here understand what is going on. It is very difficult for a new person to come in and ask questions or post different views without getting attacked. It is kind of sad. Only what? 5% of the people on this site post? I am guessing. I would love to come up with a way to invite more people to this site.....but people are a tad to harsh on new comers. They are called "Trolls" or a "Long Time User" will notice how long they have been signed up.....and if it was recent, the poster will get cut down just for being a short timer. We should welcome all new comers. We should invite their opinions without "Harsh" criticism. We should ask them "Why do you think this way?" and initiate a good conversation. Try to understand their view, rather than just lashing out.
I have been here for a long time.....and still come a couple times a day to read the posts.......
This is my view on the overall slow turn the site has taken....
The site has not turned the wrong way.......it has just migrated into a very low percentage of users posting.....and many reading. I welcome new comers. I welcome new questions from new posters. I am willing to answer any questions without lashing out.....I hope you will consider this before you type....
Thanks for reading.
P.S. I wish Sierra was back....I really enjoyed his views....as well as Rhino's, and Mike Lawsons. I like to take in all of the opinions.....and then decide for myself.

Thank You for your opinion as I VALUE your post & feel the same way. I catch bits & pieces of posts and others 'issues" concerning what should be said or stated & what shouldn't be said or stated. I KNOW in my heart that FREE & OPEN speech will prevail on this site as long as it doesn't HARM others in the process. I just KNOW that Michael is a 1st Amendment THINKER. :)

You are correct Katie.
If anything, these numbers should be reversed. That is: 360 USERS and 64 guests. At this point, why not?
Is every one out there scared of getting hammered? I don't blame you for that impression.
What are you people on the sidelines doing out there? Is anyone home? Playing it safe will not work when TSHTF.
Thanks for your post, Katie.
Hi SteveMT!
Thank You Steve, as you could see for yourself I got accused of possibly utilizing "trollish" behavior myself. Geezzz I even have a roll of Ron Paul Silver Dollars & 1 Ron Paul Gold....BUT NOOOOOOO.(Best Bill Murray ...SNL impression)..(lol) that "AIN'T" good enough... Just hav'in fun here now...LOL...(Ashamed of self)... :) That's OK...Ron Paul still likes me!
Katie, Your were accused of reporting the truth!!
Now you know how Ron Paul has felt for the past 30 years!
No one may want to hear it, but the truth eventually becomes unavoidable.
Sometimes I read here that
Sometimes I read here that calling our elected officials is a waste of time. Take the Real Id Act and the Pass Act, S1261, for example. http://www.stoprealidcoalition.com/ Today I called each senator on the senate committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Most clerks all but cut me off because they are getting so many calls. Will all these calls be ignored? Probably. But what else can I do about this?
Then I read the magnificent "You're not the boss of me" post. http://www.dailypaul.com/node/98467
To me it says that if we do not speak out against these train of abuses of power, we are complicit. So I can call until I'm blue in the face and then, if, and when this Real ID, (carrying my international papers,) comes to be, I can choose not to participate. For if I do, then I am just as bad as those in power who are violating the First, Fourth and Tenth Amendments.
Hello Realdeal
You indeed ARE the REALDEAL if in fact you call your reps! BLESS YOU my friend in Liberty & Freedom! I do the same & I know that if nothing else these Reps KNOW they have a REAL STORM awaiting them at some time or another...REAL SOON! You stay in the trenches, doing what WE ALL NEED TO DO... as I will also! NEVER GIVE UP & NEVER GIVE IN. :)
Thank you Katie
Did you read that Larken Rose article, You're not the boss of me? Imagine if every American decided not to participate in this READ ID? Every person in America decides that getting this international ID is unconstitutional and refuses to get a new drivers license. I say that then, we will have returned to our revolutionary roots. We will have decided that being a "law abiding citizen" means abiding by the law...the Constitution.
Katie It Has Been Like That From The Beginning When This Site
started getting really popular and I've always thought it can only be three things.
1.People too lazy to log in and they are just lurking for info...
2.People with no BACKBONE that are afraid to join and make themselves known...
3. Our " friends" from various governmental agencies with acronyms such as: CIA, DHS,FBI...

Re:3
Those "friends" are perhaps the trouble makers we have seen over time. It makes sense.
Much of the enthusiasm of Dr. Paul's campaign has wained.
From my own point of view, I would say that the goal driven enthusiasm for getting Dr. Paul elected wained after failure to get significant support at the polls in the Republican primary.
We still have the system of plunder and control and it is growing explosively. The political option for freedom is dead in my view, and all that is left is to watch the system crumble, and suffer the economic consequences. Hopefully the federal government will collapse in a fashion similar to the end of the Soviet Union (peacefully) and we can go forward under new smaller political unions without the burden of this monster federal government. But more realistically, those in power will attempt to stay in power and civil war will likely follow.
So what is the point of being at this site when the handwriting is on the wall.

Katie, honey, unless you are confessing to being a troll...
What you have to contribute is not "detrimental."
:)
Some of the silence is folks like me, I hope. I cut myself back to very infrequent visits, and even less frequent commentary. I was getting targets on my back that did NOTHING for the cause of liberty , but it was quite detrimental to my sense of unity with the liberty movement.
"Takin' to the streets" instead, as the saying goes.

I thought her question was valid.
It's one that has been on my mind for a long time.

getting "targets" on your back isnot a good thing for the cause of "Liberty". Glad it was "detrimental to your senses! Troll? Is that what you call people whom donot post often? Is very sad.
No answers, just an opinion.
I peruse the DP site for information first, since I don't watch much TV lately or purchase newspapers. Secondly, I like the activism threads, where one can perhaps "wake up" those in Congress. I know it's a difficult position, and slowly but surely, other Americans will finally get an "aha" moment!
http://wethepeopleforum.ning.com/ is a new site to check out!
Love it Querk!
It is a GREAT feeling when you experience for yourself people getting that "WAKE UP" moment. Thanks for your honest thoughts & feedback! :)
