Who would you rather show up to put out a fire in your house?
The people who did best on the exams and worked for a promotion? Or someone who may have failed the exam but still got a promotion based on race? Sounds like a simple decision to me. I just want the most qualified individual, I don't care what race, sex, or sexual preference they have. I just want the best people for the job at hand, whether it is putting out a fire, doing surgery or being President of the USA.

If a firefighter who cannot
If a firefighter who cannot pass the exam but gets the job because of their race messes up during a fire, maybe with the direct result of someone dying or significant property damage - what sort of liability might that open up for the fire department?
Wouldn't sending an unqualified firefighter to do a job be similar to sending out a police officer who does not know how to use their gun?
When fire departments promote based on race rather than merit what they are telling the people is that our safety does not matter. They put every single one of us at risk with their politically motivated decisions.

It's not just firefighters on the chopping block here...like the above posters says, it's policemen, surgeons, telephone repair, auto repair, you-name-it!!..all the way to the Oval Office. Affirmative action has killed this nation on so many levels. Regardless of sex, race, religion, etc...may the best, best qualified man or woman be hired or promoted.
This has been going on in the school systems since the Fed took it over...they pay less and less, so the "good" teachers bail out in favor of other work..and then, when nobody can meet the qualification standards to fill the position, they "dumb-down" the standards...and thusly, your kid is being taught by a moron.
