GOP seeks to have Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida State Chairman Removed from Republican Party for speaking against Bush Administration

I received a notice yesterday that the St. Johns County Florida, Republican Executive Committee passed a resolution requesting the Republican Party of Florida (“RPOF”) Chairman, Jim Greer to have me “banned from attending Republican Party functions, including sanctioned clubs of the Republican Party” Additionally, they resolved that I be removed from the party under Fla. Stat. 103.161 http://www.flsenate.gov/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_...
and under this statute “An individual removed from office by the chair shall not be eligible to serve on the state executive committee or any county executive committee of the political party for a period of no less than 4 years from the effective date of the removal.”

From what I can gather from the ramblings of the Grievance it is alleged that I have done the following:
1. Attended a Pro-America Rally in Minneapolis hosted by the Campaign for Liberty and wore a “Ron Paul” button on my lapel after the Republican primary
2. Attended an End the Fed(Federal reserve bank) Rally in Jacksonville
3. Spoke or written things in a manner harmful to the GOP specially regarding RPOF Chairman Jim Greer and Gov. Charlie Crist by stating they are “pathetic and embarrassing” and other comments regarding Senator John McCain and President George Bush.

I am now to appear in Kissimmee on July 25 at 1 pm to answer these allegationsto the RPOF or be removed from the party. The RPOF’s statement in closing was “Please govern yourselves accordingly”

On the cover sheet of the RPOF Grievance package was a copy of the county resolution. It is obvious that this grievance was orchestrated by State Committeeman John Woodard and State Committee woman Becky Reichenberg even though it was filed by a Bill Blythe whom I have never met. Coincidentally, Wynonna Mayer and John Stevens, the opponents of Reichenberg and Woodard, respectively, for their State Committee person seats are also named in the resolution to have removed form the Republican Party. In the Grievance cover letter, State Committeeman, John Woodard forwarded the resolution to Michael Yaworsky of the RPOF where he stated:
“Becky asked me to send this to this resolution from last August, and she requested it be added to the grievance. Were you able to access and safe [sic] the other information I sent to you?”.

This saga is a continuation of events last year where Reichenberg, Woodard and former Chairman Bob Veit switched meeting dates and times and changed local rules to prohibit new members from joining the party that would not support them. Chairman Viet issued a written response to the RLC positions that being pro life, pro gun, pro veteran, pro Constitution, pro low tax, pro liberty, pro limited government, pro individual responsibility, pro states rights, “represents narrow political philosophy (Liberty Caucus) that had limited appeal to Republican voters no less all voters”

It is now very clear that Woodard and Reichenberg are more concerned with preserving their seats in local politics than they are in growing the party or restoring the party to one of its original principles.

This revival of old wounds when the party desperately needs to rebuild is unfortunate especially in light of the following recent articles on the GOP:

Young voters are moving away from the Republican Party in Droves

US News: Republican Party Shrinks to Lowest Level in 30 Years
http://www.usnews.com/articles/opinion/2009/05/27/republican...

Additionally, the RPOF’s desire to move this grievance forward is a blatant attempt by the RPOF establishment to silence the voices of the conservative/libertarian Republicans who want to have a small government voice in the party. So to address some of the allegations and pick at old wounds I will offer a response:

1. Attended a Pro-America Rally in Minneapolis hosted by the Campaign for Liberty
The Campaign for Liberty hosted a Pro America/ Pro-Constitution event this past year in Minneapolis to support limited constitutional government. The St. Johns GOP wants to act as if there is something wrong with this. They also want to portray the event as an anti-GOP event. Most interesting however is that CNN Reported that National Republican Congressional Committee Chair Tom Cole argued candidates should steer clear of the party’s summer convention in Minneapolis, calling it a “waste of time” in a tough year when every day on the campaign trail counts.
GOP Leader tells Republican to avoid the convention.http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/01/gop-leader-to-republican-candidates-avoid-the-convention/
Additionally, they neglect to mention that speakers other than Republican Congressman Ron Paul, at this event were Bruce Fein http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJiq1zDcc7c, former assistant attorney general under Ronald Reagan and Doug Wead http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1810805496658370851... who served as an advisor to then vice president George H. W. Bush and helped organize his presidential campaign. In March, 1987 he reported directly to the son, George W. Bush and served as the campaign liaison to constituent groups. They obtained photographs of me while attending this event in Minneapolis. In the photo, I am wearing a vintage “Barry Goldwater” campaign button and a Republican Liberty Caucus sticker. This is also one of the complaints, that I am not wearing a John McCain button.
2. Attended an End the Fed(Federal Reserve Bank) Rally in Jacksonville

This was an event to help gain support for the Audit the Fed Bill (HR1207) that is now supported by 230 members of congress and led by Senator Jim DeMint in the Senate. This a very important piece of legislation that has gained bipartisan support in the House and Senate. Here is a video of Senator DeMint on this bill.

3. Spoke or written things in a manner harmful to the GOP specially regarding RPOF Chairman Jim Greer and Gov. Charlie Crist by stating they are “pathetic and embarrassing” and other comments regarding John McCain and George Bush.
"To announce that there should be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American people." -Theodore Roosevelt
During the primary and election cycle I questioned the huge expansion of the federal government under George W. Bush, the $10 trillion of debt that was accumulated under GWB, the $60 trillion of debt obligations under Bush and the huge expansion of federal programs such as No Child Left Behind and the War on Terror. However, there were very mixed signals coming from the GOP leadership as well. We had the GOP leadership advising Republicans to do exactly the same thing. Now we want to selectively remove members for trying to pull the base back into the party.

The complaint in the grievance is that I have forwarded information and statements made by Senator John McCain, Senator Lindsey Graham, General David Patreaus, Brig General Janice Karpinski head of Abu Ghirab and Major General Antonio Taguba, the former army officer who conducted an inquiry into the Abu Ghraib jail in Iraq. All of these persons have given statements about the torture policy and General Karpinski has stated that these were not a few rogue soldiers but a small group within the military and CIA acting on orders from the Bush Administration. These are not things I have said. These are said by Republican Leadership and those in charge of these events. The facts are as follows:

So, if discussion, debate and questioning policy is now grounds to remove people from the party, I must ask, what have we come to as a party? What have we come to when the leadership requires all members to sign a Loyalty Oath to the party and not to principles? What have we come to when those in power in the party can use the party apparatus to selectively remove all opposition from the party at will? It is time to return the party back to the people and to return the party to a party of principles.

What Can be Done?

The good news is that we are not alone. Other Republicans around the state who have challenged the direction of the Party have also been sent Grievances. There is a strong coalition forming to fight back against these tactics. More to come on that…

In the meantime...

These individuals will meet beginning on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gaylord Palms Hotel in Kissimmee to review the "grievances" against all ten (10) GOP individuals.

This follows the removal last week of prominent African-American GOP Leader - attorney Deon Long, who was removed for being "disruptive" by challenging the Orange REC election in which the previous chairman LEW OLIVER had improperly; conducted the election; ran the election; disqualified 19 duly elected REC members; counted the votes and then declared himself the winner by one vote 122-121-2. Both party rules and parliamentary procedure requires a majority vote to win the position - Oliver failed to obtain a majority. Mr. Long sued OCREC on behalf on the 19 disenfranchised OCREC member (all were committed to Long) and Oliver then filed a complaint against Long for being "disruptive." Even though Deon Long is a GOP candidate for the US Congress and the most prominent black GOP leader, Greer removed him from the local REC membership - an action that will be challenged in court.

The common thread with all of the grievances are that those being targeted for the party purge are:
1) Supportive of an open primary for Governor and US Senator.
2) Resisted the effort by Greer to force GOP REC's to endorse Governor Crist and Bill McCollum (over a dozen REC's objected to this move - most unanimously).
3) Open supporters of Marco Rubio for the US Senate and/or Paula Dockery for Governor.
4) Members of the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) - an duly chartered GOP organization dedicated to supporting libertarian ideals within the GOP.
5) Leaders of anti-tax organizations.

To date - the party purge includes the following: DEON LONG (Orange) - PURGED; WILL PITTS (RLC STATE CHAIR) St. Johns/Duval; DOUG GUETZLOE (AX THE TAX CHAIR) Orange; NICK EGOROFF (CFL/RLC) Orange; JOHN STEVENS (RLC/CFL) - St. Johns/Duval; THE HONORABLE JASON STEELE (BREVARD REC CHAIR) Brevard; KEN WEAVER (RLC) Escambia, JOSHUA JOSCELYN (Vice Chair of the RLC of NWF), and ELIZABETH CAMPBELL (Chair of the RLC of NWF, State Committeewoman, and a public-office holder [ECUA], and two more in Martin County - names unknown because the RPOF refuses to release them.

At least 8 liberty lovers are being hauled in before a 'Grievance Committee"

Come on, I'm sure you

Come on, I'm sure you canvassed your neighborhood for Ron Paul a while back, go canvass the neighborhood for yourself.

You have 11 days, go get the list of registered republicans in your neighborhood and start going door-to-door and try to gather support for your cause. Advise these republicans that the Chairman is seeking to have you banned for you expressing your first amendment rights and because you supported a candidate with whom they do not agree.

Get these people to support your efforts and have them come to the meeting and speak on your behalf.

I would imagine that only 1-2 dozen people could make a significant difference in the meeting. If I was in FL I would come petition for you, but since I'm not, you may have to do the work yourself.

Make a youtube video.

Is there any other state where the GOP has fallen so far...

that the smaller parties like LP & CP compete against the Dems?

If that works I wonder how it could work for FL. Being a cracker, the GOP has been the party of last resort with no other place to go while some describe that as a planned outcome of the "Southern Strategy". The Dems left us, now the GOP. It would be nice to belong to a party where you didn't have to pinch your nose or your ears every time they proposed a Lincoln luncheon fund raiser.

just got back from the

just got back from the pinellas county republican executive committee in florida. They are terrified of the democrats winning the govenors seat in the next election or the next 2 elections running the show at the state level. This fear is part of the reason we are encountering so much opposistion from the entrenched neo-cons down here. They are in my opinion afraid ron paul members will cause enough disruption to cause them to lose the state to the dems.

"We must re-take the Republican Party"-Ron Paul. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlqXq8YxQFQ

They're morons

Rather then embraces us, they see us as a disruption. We are only disruptive when they abandon principles and act like Democrats. I guest the idea of defending liberty and the rule of law just isn't an option for them.

I tried

I tried to get involved with the RPOF (Republican Party of Florida), however my local meetings were nothing more than two hours of geriatric whining and Islamohomophobia. My local Ron Paul group was even accused of 'working with the Muslims'. For the record I don't know any Muslims, but if there were Muslims who supported Ron Paul and the U.S. Constitution, they would have been welcome in our group.

Sorry folks, but taking over the GOP would be like pirating the Titanic after it's meeting with the iceberg. We need to move to another party. The GOP simply doesn't deserve us, and without us they're dead. That will ultimately be a good thing for America.

GOP is RIP

Constitution party, there platform is the original GOP platform.

CAGOP has been broke for years

It remains broken on the "inside" where in my county, five RINO make sure NO ONE does anything Arnold does not order CAGOP to do. The latest letter to the editor form the GOP, first letter in over a decade, informed us the GOP wants to raise park fees to $15.00 per car. The GOP people have long stood that our parks are OURS and should be free to enter... The GOP is PROVOKING people to buck their system forcing us to accept Obama, and the feds.

Have a good posting day!

Good for you, Republican Liberty

Now, it is time to have all assets of the St. Johns County Republican Party frozen until this dispute is settled. You can also personally sue each and every member of the Executive Committee in Small Claims Court for "Outrageous Conduct". Filing a small claims damage suit, even for a dollar, will give these people pause to reconsider their conduct, and would be money well spent.

Libertarian Party of Florida Welcomes You

The Libertarian Party of Florida welcomes all people cast out, shunned, put down, ignored, ostracized, shut-up, shut-out, taken-for-granted, cheated, despised and otherwise abandoned by the Republican Party. We welcome all who believe in the Constitution, individual liberty, and peace. See: http://www.lpf.org and http://www.lp.org Trying to fight for freedom from within the Republican Party is like the Americans trying to win freedom from the British Crown by sending letters to the King accross the Atlantic.

Sounds like a great opportunity.

I think you have a very good defense. I also think that it won't matter even a little bit to these jerks. We have the same problem in Texas with Tina Benkiser being a neocon authoritarian who doesn't really care about rules, principles or logic, only power.

The GOP throwing people like you out is one of the best things that can happen to the liberty movement. We tried to play with them, but they just want us to sit down, shut up and agree with their disgusting policies. Being forced out, if you can make it public and if you can alert as many fellow GOP members as you can, will allow other members to see just how corrupt and authoritarian the party has become. The problem with third parties is simply not enough people in them. If we can get the majority of the GOP, many of who are good people, to jump ship with us then we have a much better chance of making a difference.

Free and Brave

You can't have both

Free and Brave
or Cradle to Grave
You can't have both

Yes

good idea, work as an independent "maverick" conservative-libertarians inside the GOP and reach out to Independents. You will gain respect with them and build the base so strong that these entrenched power elites in the FL GOP would have to surrender eventually.

Email Scatter Bomb

The freedom movement cannot rely on the same ol same ol tactics that go nowhere when everything is rigged. It's time to distract, protest, expose and remove the enemies. Start sending emails to every small town paper and town council and local police your search engine can get it's hands on. Attach files with the evidence on killer flu vaccines, thermite in the dust, voter frauds, list of obama broken promises, covered up EPA studies, NLE09, UN troops in america, the fed dodging questions, planned martial law, missing birth certificate.....you name it. we can call it the email bomb. whatever state you are in just start searching for any local governments contact info and send, send ,send until you pass out. dig up dirt, spread it around, show no mercy.

To all disgruntled Republicans who are sick of

fighting these bastards in Florida and other states I say:

Let them win. Jump ship to another party and get them organized. Head over to the LP or the CP or form another. Let the GOP die its sad and long overdue death and carry the mantel amongst people who are like minded.

There is nothing sacred about the GOP. It used to be a "third party" so I say let it go back to being one. It's first president was one hell of a totalitarian SOB if my recollection of History serves me right. The party was NEVER about State's Rights or limited government except and until FDR came along. And then, that was only rhetoric. The real GOP has always governed in favor of big business and bigger government. Even Regan didn't have the cahonies to veto Congress like he should have. He also didn't have to sign those massive spending bills. (massive for his time that is)

Let the little A-holes in the GOP be the big fish in a small pond. As more real people leave the party the pond will get smaller and they will have no one left to devour but themselves.

Relegate the GOP leadership to the fringe....

....And put everyone else in the Ron Paul Republicans & independent party.

That will kick them out while they're down

Why do you want to remain a part of such a party?

Let them have their little playground and tell them off.

Seriously, they are obviously power hungry little pansies that can't take anyone who opposes them. They are fools, and they will go down in flames. Why do you insist on being on their boat when it sinks?

You won't change them and you won't get them out of their positions. Just let them hang themselves.

I Don't Believe We Can Change The Minds Of The

"power hungry little pansies" But other people in the party are waking up to what has been going on. Several counties have recently fired shots of protest at Mr. Greer....not just individuals, but formal resolutions voted on and passed. This fight is giving us media exposure, and will only bring more to our side, as the leaderships hypocrisy is obvious...so...why would we let a perfectly able ship sink when we can commandeer it?

Fellow Veterans, This Is A Call To Arms!

February 20, 2012 - Veterans For Ron Paul March on D.C.!

Commandeer it and take over....

....While propping up the independent party. A third party movement which can finally phase out the others, like Ventura did in Minnesota. That's the real objective.

I don't have any answers anymore

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

we seem to be cornered everywhere we try to turn. All we can due is keep our fortitude, and try to get a jab in here and there. The only answer I have now is don't give up, our time will come. Keep up the great work.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

The GOP should change its symbol

from elephants to lemmings.

Actually this could be great publicity

when you go to this meeting July 25 bring a camera and let it roll. You sound like you can defend your case very well so all your going to do is make these guys look like stooges. Then we can put it all over the internet.

This is truly a sad day for liberty and America.

Not to mention what is left of the Republican Party.

Maybe we need to start a petition to the Republican Party leadership, stating the obvious. That we need to go back to traditional Republican values, back Dr. Paul, be pro small-government, anti-illegal war, etc. List our demands with a 100,000 signatures might give them the idea that they need to get on board or see the final death throes of the Republican Party. If Ron Paul Republicans walk out, that would be the death-knell, since we have stayed so far and besides the neo-cons, we are the only ones still loyal.

Hate to disappoint Demo....but,

this has been done already. The GOP ignored the petitions and continued right on down the path to destruction...........They are only interested in listening to people like Bill Krystal, Murdoch and the other globalist elites and the people be damned............and the Democrats (as you can see) are no better!

This devious underhandedness is why...

the GOP is in the hole but, it has been going on a very long time. They don't care about the people. It is all about themselves. Admonished for supporting Ron Paul? Last I looked Ron was a republican too.
This behavior is not likely to end until the FEC is reined in. The support of the duopoly and all others be damned is what has given us the choice between dumb and dumber!

This is a great article

I'm going to forward to to Mike Shanklin and Bonita Honhorst.

They will get this out there.

Has C4L mentioned anything? I've also got John Tate on my list.

GOP needs to get a clue, or continue losing ground

Who exactly are Florida Republicans? Are they Gov. Charlie Crist, who had a chance to remake the state Supreme Court with a Republican bent but instead appointed a Democrat as the last of his four appointments? Or are they more aligned with former state House Speaker Marco Rubio, a conservative challenging Crist for the nomination to the U.S. Senate?

Who knows? The Florida Republicans right now really don't have a head of the party to set the direction. They did when Jeb Bush was governor. Much of Bush's support, after all, came from Republicans and some independents. But Crist, whose approval ratings are every bit as high as Bush's, gets much of his support from Democrats.

So is Florida Republican Chairman Jim Greer the real head of the party, the one to lead the 2010 candidates to victory? Not quite. Greer talks a good game about uniting the party, but his main thrust seems to be getting Crist elected and perhaps getting himself named head of the national party.

Florida Republicans are hurting when it comes to new registrations. Since January, more people have registered as independents or third parties than as Republican, surely a sign of deep trouble. Overall, Florida now has about 700,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans. The GOP finally has announced that it will embark on a major registration drive, something it hasn't done since Ronald Reagan was president in the 1980s. Because they were racking up so many victories then, they got lazy about attracting new members.

The Republicans' anemic registration efforts are painfully clear when you consider Florida voters' actions in 2008. The party failed to connect traditionally Republican views on taxes and social issues with registrations.

In 2008, for instance, more than 60 percent of Florida voters approved lower taxes with a property-tax cut. They rejected a potential tax increase for community colleges, and approved a ban on gay marriage. So, on those major issues their feelings are still hugely in line with Republican views.
