What Say You?

Laura Ingraham's comments on Faux News that Sotomayor's ruling in the firefighter's "reverse discrimination" case amounts to a "Utopian leveling of the playing field", something that, according to Laura, this country doesn't want or need.
I personally feel that a "Utopian leveling of the playing field" is an honorable aspiration.
What say you?

Hear! Hear!
Well stated.
Wow! You really would like
Wow! You really would like to see decisions on hiring and promotion left up to race? What kind of utopia are you looking for. I prefer the kind where reward is based on the merits of hard-work, skill, and determination rather than than skin color. Why not then allow an employer to pick some other arbitrary physical attribute on which to base their hiring and professional advancement. How about eye color? What about waist size? Age? Religion? Must we employ at least one green-eyed brunette transgender of middle-eastern descent? Your utopia is madness. Race must not be an issue. Let reward go to those who earn it. Let us truly be equal. Give us the freedom to succeed or fail on a level playing field. That sounds more like a utopia I would fight for.

Laura and fox News are part of the control mechanism
stop posting mind control here.
It is all designed to make you hate your brothers and sisters and it is working.
Shut it off.
Unify
it is terrible
how can you not hire more qualified people, better equipped people on the basis if race. Any judgment based on skin color is racist. King wanted a man to be judged by his character not his skin color.
Sotomayor is on her way to the Supreme Court...
One of Obama's few extremely good decisions.

Sotomayor is likely to replace Thomas, and balance the court again with Kennedy & Roberts. She will then be likely to rule on upholding the Geneva conventions, the mandatory nature of criminal charges being filed on the US Attorneys case and will most likely rule against executive privilege.
I don't have any idea where she'll stand on the CIA & extraordinary NSA eavesdropping across the board, hopefully someone fills her in...
I agree...
appointing Sotomayor was a good choice. Evidently everyone else here agrees, as well. Color me surprized!

Anything that gives the common back their rights....
Is NOT and can NOT be either utopian, nor a level of the playing field....
All men were created equal, under the law, the constitution.
Why NOT?
I don't know what you mean by that...

OK Sam...
so you DO agree with Sonia Sotomayor's ruling in that case?
Good for you! Good for U.S.!

In certain situations, it's far from good....
It depends on the situation. But if each representative of a particular race , group , committee or whatever have you is finally getting a equal shot in that race we call "life" then I don't see any harm done....
If on the other hand we allow Ingram, the Beast's news channels & other dictators to make resolutions supporting one racial group, over another whether it be blacks, latinos, jews or even religious evangelicals then we have done nothing but proved our appetite for modern slavery.
Slavery exists among the beast & it exists in Israel still, and all those places where equal rights are afford to no one even those who fight for it...
I applaud your view in this matter!
I feel, however, that your's IS a Utopian philosophy...
and quite honorable.
