The Mark of the Beast is not a chip
A chip can be forcibly implanted in you, how can you be condemned to destruction, not eternal hell. Do you think a merciful God would condemn anyone to suffer for eternity? If you choose the world, you will be destroyed, gone, never to exist again. Eternal hell was created to scare the hell into you. The Bible says plain as day, if you choose the world you will die, and that is it. The mark on the forehead or hand simply means how you think, and what work you do with your hands. Do you think Godly or worldly, do you work for evil or good. The mark will be of your choosing, and for some it will cost us our lives in the future. I know some on here will bash me for being into God, but the facts are here for all of us to see, there is an evil coming for us all that is not of this Earth, but is of this Earth. No human could have strategically planned this, the game has been too long and played too well to be of human creation. We of the R3volution are truly fighting the constructs of evil, and awakening has only made me realize more than ever that God is real, and we are all going to have to choose probably sooner rather than later. I don't mean to bring religion into this, but religion is what this is going to come down to. Which side are you gonna choose? Those who choose God, will suffer, through harder means of acquiring food, shelter, etc. Those who choose the world will end up enslaved and have access to food, shelter, etc.. I just hope all you who do not believe in the Saviour, in the end, when it comes down, will realize what we are truly battling, and I hope to see you all on the other side, not just some of you. Your being here alone, speaks volumes for your character within itself, which tells me, most who are here, are people of virtue and truth. That is something that is hard to find in todays world. You will have a choice in the end, please don't forget that.

Than you will be accepting and promoting the Beast society of the anti-christ.
This is what happens when society is micromanaged with advanced tech to become nothing more than an instrument of the elite's indulgence. For most there will be no good or evil, just a personality cult that follows as commanded.
The unchecked power of the elite will be so extreme that they will openly rape children and eat people's faces. They'll broadcast it and get the rest of the beast people to imitate them.
No one will do anything to stop it, basic morality will be seen as an archaic concept only the incredibly stupid and insane entertain--and those people are the ones who will be tortured and mutilated.
Just look at where we are today where a large share of the people on the daily paul enjoyed watching Bruno shove a champagne bottle up a guy's ass and bring feces to the dinner table. I mean not only did they enjoy it and laugh, but they also paid to see it and endorsed it.
People in the beast society will be a 100 times worse. They will be just like animals herded and lead everywhere--and I mean purely like animals, mentally, sexually, culturally, etc. Once you're chipped and have cameras watching you 24/7 it won't be long until your life consist of task after task between traveling from one pen to another.
Look at how Monsanto runs a farm--drugged up/genetically modified animals that exist purely to be exploited.
That's the future that we can only at best slow-down by fighting or avoid by escaping to the wilderness.

is very clear that the mark is identified with the hand or forehead. Maybe they will tattoo your SS number there and if they do, then I'll agree...

As a Christian and someone who studied Theology I agree. The last book of the New testament has been very incorrectly being interpreted. The company I work for has also to do with RFID and I have done some researc. They have used RFID originally already during WW2 to know which plane is that of the enemy and which is not so avoid "friendly fire".
Also your mobile phone can be tracked and listened to in any case. And technologically RFID is like electronic barcode and means cost saving and it does not mean you can track it very far, unless it is active and very expensive RFID at certain frequency and then still only a few feet. To track longer than that the chip would have to be so expensive and the reader as well. They are working on technology to have the chip with clothes deactived once you go through the reader at say Wallmart, so that you cannot be tracked anymore.
The mark of the Beast one should interpret more symbolically and metaphorically.

Remember the chip can be turned on or off
It is with the chip that you can buy or sell. But, the chip is programmed and you are identified. Just having the chip doesn't mean you are saved or lost. What happens is whether you have been deemed by the State as someone who should be allowed to buy or sell. When you go to the store and try to buy something, you are identified by the Chip. If the computer says you are a terrorist or not loyal to the State (the Beast), then you don't get to buy or sell. It's as simple as that.
Your actions do determine your fate in a sense. Because you either demonstrate your loyalty to God and His principles, or to the State. So, don't be afraid to get implanted because you think you are going to be lost because of it. The Chip itself has no power. It is the privileges it gives that is where the power lies. Remember in communism and fascism, if you were not loyal to the State, you went nowhere in life. You and your family were ostracized and had to future.

Your post seems to imply that it is one's works that determine where one will spend eternity. According to the bible, this is not the case. Also, God will condemn those who reject Him to suffer eternity. Yes, He is a merciful being, but, according to His own word, He is also an angry and jealous being.

The word "mark" here is translated from the Greek, "charagma khar'-ag-mah," which is taken from another Greek word, "charax khar'-ax". Here are their definitions:
charagma khar'-ag-mah: a scratch or etching, i.e. stamp (as a badge of servitude), or scupltured figure (statue):--graven, mark.
charax khar'-ax: from charasso (to sharpen to a point; akin to the idea of scratching); a stake, i.e. (by implication) a palisade or rampart (military mound for circumvallation in a siege):--trench.
The mark is a physical mark.
"And he deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live."
It seems logical to me that our modern-day technology would most definitely be nothing short of miraculous to those who walked our earth only 125 years ago, let alone to those in biblical times. There is a fine line between sorcery and technology; what you perceive it to be depends on your orientation to it.
It should be considered that some of the elite who control our government and who are working for a global banking system supporting a cashless world have flat out stated their goal of "chipping" the masses and building community infrastructure and financial systems around that action.
IBM spent millions of dollars developing and perfecting a system that will enable the masses to go to grocery and retail stores, gather up everything they want to buy and simply walk out of the stores with the items. Upon exiting the store, each item, and the buyer, is scanned via RFID; the total cost of the items is determined and that amount is automatically deducted from the buyer's bank account. This system is completed, and has been for several years. It works. It's ready to be deployed. Why don't you see it yet? Because it is dependent upon the masses being "chipped" (be it an RFID implant, an RFID chip carried in a card or something similar).
In the early 90's Motorola invested quite a lot of money and time researching the most feasible RFID implant locations in the human body. They concluded two optimal implant locations: the right hand and the forehead.
A Saudi inventor recently applied for a patent in Germany on an RFID chip which contains a remotely-releasable lethal dose of cyanide. The patent was denied, but it's not unrealistic to think that there could be some wealthy individuals with one-world government on their minds who have taken note and will take a serious look at such technologies. Such technologies would easily enable a scenario such as this:
"And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed."
Also, we keep seeing our government trying to introduce RFID in various forms of national ID. So far the ID's keep getting shot down, then given a new face/name and re-introduced later.
So the mark will be a physical mark, but will it be an RFID chip? I don't know. RFID chipping does seem to be the direction things are heading. There are many indications that all roads are leading to it.
What about
the "no man shall buy or sell, unless he has the mark of the beast"?

I think the Mark will be a physical manifestation of one's spiritual inclination.
We don't consciously think numerically... therefore we can’t “tabulate” one’s thoughts or actions. IMO, there will be some significance to the Six-Hundred, Three-score and Six as mentioned.
I can’t agree that one’s SSN is the Mark. They (SSNs) are given out at birth – therefore there is no conscious effort on the part of the person getting the SSN to go against God. For that reason, folks will not only need to receive the Mark, but also bow down and worship the Beast, or his Image in order to be thrown into the lake of fire… which shall happen, BTW.
That is the second death.

Given context of this in the 'old testament' and parallels to passages and context in the 'new testament' I am not looking for the mark/sign to be a chip or some such overt thing.
I think it is about our thought/actions as presented in this passage.
Why give new meanings and interpretations to things when there is already precedent given in earlier writings?

I do not believe it a coincidence to be using such terminology as quoted in it's context. There may be many taggged/chipped but I doubt that is the mark/sign.

Liberally or symbolically interpreted, biblical prophesy has been fulfilled in this instance. Whether literal fulfillment is necessary (in the sense of unavoidable), will be interesting to see.

Bible prophecy is so incredibly vague that people are always saying it's being fulfilled. The 20th century was full of people claiming Revelations was passing...Hitler was the Anti-Christ, the Third Reich was the Revelations coming true...Bush is the anti-Christ, Obama is the anti-Christ, c'mon...ridiculous. Revelations is the product of a guy that was tripping on some mushrooms.
There's a lot of stuff in Revelations
but in this particular case there can be no doubt. TPTB intend to audit every single financial transaction, no matter how small. The next step is the elimination of cash. Every transaction will be done with a credit card type device. This device will be tied to your social security number. No number, no card. No card, no buying or selling. Some sort of biometric data will, of course be also tied to the device. If it's fingerprints and/or retinal scans, I think "on his left hand or his forehead" is pretty close. We will see. Shouldn't be long.......
