Doing an S604 bomb today. We need to get some more Senators on board!
Today's Victims: Senator Al Franken D-MN and Senator Mary Landrieu D-LA. Let's welcome Franken to the Senate by sending a big wave of faxes, emails, and phone calls, requesting he cosponsor S604. He only has contact info up for his DC office right now, as I am sure they are still getting things figured out for his district offices. Let his DC office hear from us! Also, I have been informed that Mary Landrieu is the only representative from LA not supporting Fed transparency, as for all other reps are cosponsors to 1207 or 604. Get LA 100% on board!

I called and left a message at his office. By the time I called, they were closed for the day, but I still left a message on his machine asking that he cosponsor S604. If you guys have a couple minutes, and have not made a call, you should do so now and leave a message, so his staff gets a wave of Fed Transparency voice mails when they arrive tomorrow morning :)

I intern at Bachmann's Office
and basically all we do is take down the opinion in cases like this. I am very opinionated about politics but those are my own, and when I answer the phone at Michele Bachmann's I really can't say anything because I'm a direct representative of her. It's frustrating actually but what can I do? So if it seemed like they "didn't care" it's because all they are supposed to do is record what you say (and where you are from if you will tell them). Trust me, nothing gets to them more than an endless number of calls. During the cap and trade debate I believe some Democrats offices just quit answering cuz it was call after call of people telling them NOT to vote for it.
I am obviously a constituent of Franken's, and to be honest they care MUCH MUCH more when it is a constituent. But nevertheless, flooding the phones, emails, faxes, and everything else will really get to them. We need to start now and we need to start early with these Senators. If they honestly are getting 90% of their calls and emails about auditing the Fed, they really can't sidestep the issue or write it off, they will HAVE to address it. But with something like the cap and trade bill, there was really only one day where we annihilated the phones and emails, and they knew that so they just turned them off and Monday was back to normal.
We can do this, and it IS effective. Plan on a daily email/fax/call or whatever to your Senator if they haven't signed on. I will email Franken every single day from here on out, Klobauchar as well. Let's get this done!

I agree it is much more effective
I agree it is much more effective than most people think. If the lines were jammed all hours of the day it would work wonders. The way I see it is that they would start blaming us saying we are making it hard for them to "get their work done." But really, it's not our fault until they come out publicly for it or against it. And I believe if a Senator comes out against it we can jam their lines nonstop till they change their mind. It's the least we can do i.m.o.
You should for sure call your Senators every single day. They care about 100x more when they are talking to a constituent.

I sent my email to Franken. In it, I talked about how it is important for the Federal Reserve to be audited so we can better understand the activities that caused the economic crisis so we can prevent these events from happening again in the future, blah blah blah. I thought the email was pretty informative for the most part though, and I hope it will influence his staff to put in the good word. Please do the same!
