A New Fundraising IdeaSubmitted by BaneMaler on Wed, 07/15/2009 - 17:58
I was watching Freedom Watch today and looking at these two great men, Adam Kokesh and Peter Schiff discussing the difficulties ahead when/if they run for office. I got to thinking about the Money Bomb and the effectiveness of new creative approaches to fundraising and how we might be due for some new ideas. I also enjoyed the joint money bombs where they raised money for a mixed bag of candidates who shared the proceeds equally. Even the debates were interesting where the winner took all.
How about some friendly competition. We have so many people to support and we are all linked in to our own social groups and routines. What if each sight or organization makes it an effort to focus on one or two of these candidates and actively keep track of their campaigns and progress on their websites. Between these sites we can have a healthy race to raise the most money for our candidate from now till whenever. Set some key dates where we can raise money quarterly or annually. I think this could even stimulate traffic to the participating sites as they will actively keep the latest status on the people they are supporting and promoting with their membership. Say Rand Paul is the Daily Paul's candidate to support in this contest. Maybe they can get their supporters to push for media coverage of their candidate, blanket social networking with information about their run, and help set up national or independent debates to showcase their ideas.
I would hate to see people bailout of these races because they didn't raise the kind of money needed to overtake their opponents. If you like this idea please add to the conversation.
