U.S. Cities Increasing Use of Armed Mercenaries to Replace Police

Some estimate that private security inside the US actually outnumber police 5-to-1.
The United States is in the midst of the most radical privatization agenda in its history. We see this in schools, health care, prisons, and certainly with the US military/national security/intelligence apparatus.
There are almost 200,000 "private contractors" in Iraq (more than U.S. soldiers) and President Barack Obama is continuing to use mercenaries there and in Afghanistan and Israel/Palestine. At present, 70 percent of the U.S. intelligence budget is going to private companies.

In New Orleans, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of the city, private security poured in. Armed operatives from companies like Blackwater, Wackenhut, Intercon and DynCorp spread out in the city.
Within two weeks of the hurricane, the number of private security companies registered in Louisiana jumped from 185 to 235.
In New Orleans at the time, I interviewed Israeli commandos from a company called Instinctive Shooting International as they operated an armed checkpoint on Charles Street after having been hired by a wealthy businessman. I also interviewed private guards who bragged of shooting "black gangbangers."

I was wondering if it was intentional, that there were no real evacuation plans? That NO was to be some sort of test case for whatever these megalomaniacs have planned? And when Katrina didn't take out the levees, a man made explosion did?
This would allow for the influx of mercenaries to practice whatever they needed to practice in an American city. You have to wonder why the people were not allow to leave after the hurricane had passed? Why all the exits out of the city were blocked? And why were non violent people who just wanted to leave being shot? I seem to remember this happening on a bridge leading out of NO.

I really dont have a problem
I really dont have a problem with privatization, as long as the contracts spell out constitutional restraints on the police or military businesses. Even though this is not really a "private" relationship responding to the market per se, just having private companies bid for contracts can increase efficiency dramatically over a bureaucracy. Of course, the potential for corruption in the bidding process is very high.

Obviously if you have a corrupt government you will have corrupt mercenaries, just like even government employees will be corrupt. It doesnt help that they are usually hired to carry out illegitimate services like occupying Iraq. Personally, I would love to have quality contracted private police, as long as they are subject to the same constitutional limitations as our current ones are.

Using mercenaries has always been a harbinger of empires fall.
San Francisco sells districts. If you provide good service to the people in the district, they keep paying you. If you provide bad service, they hire someone else. This is the way it should be. Otherwise we have cops that abuse their power because they can.

They are sending our national guard out so the excuse of using foreign troops in an "emergency" ( false flag ) will seem necessary and reasonable. I have thought this for quite some time.
And yes, I do wish the subject of unusual "entagling alliances" with a certain country could be discussed rationally...I agree with your comment below..we get attacked from both fronts when trying to discuss ANYTHING having to do with Israel~ be it economic or foreign policy!!

I saw the part about
I saw the part about Israeli commandos and yet there was nothing about this in the MSM. This is a big story especially since questions have been brought up about 9/11 and the dancing Israelis and traces of explosives found in their van. In addition to many NO residents stating they heard explosions at the levies. At the time most people thought they were crazy..now maybe, not so much.
I am amazed how this subject instantly brings out the bloggers who start screaming... well you know the tags they want to label people with who dare bring up this subject for discussion. Then there's the other group of bloggers who start making degrading remarks about this group of people. Makes one wonder what both these groups of bloggers are trying to cover up with these tactics which are clearly meant to silence any meaningful, non hateful conversation
