My canned message from senator McCaskill

I sent an email to My MO senator McCaskill on S-604, "FRB Sunshine Act 2009", when you e-mail McCaskill your asked for a topic, I selected health and sent an E-mail on the FED audit. this is the canned response I got back:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the Mom's Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research and Support for Postpartum Depression Act (S. 324). I appreciate hearing from you on this issue, and I apologize for the delay in responding.
Post Partum Depression (PPD) is estimated to affect 10 to 20 percent of new mothers every year. This legislation would require medical professionals to provide information to new mothers and their families about postpartum depression (PPD) before they leave the hospital. The bill would offer mothers the opportunity to be screened for postpartum depression symptoms during the first year of postnatal check-up visits. It is my understanding that nothing in the legislation would force women to be screened, they would just have the option. The bill also provides social services to new mothers suffering from PPD and funding for further research on the condition, whose cause isn't known but changes in hormone levels, a difficult pregnancy or birth and a family history of depression are considered possible factors. S. 324 was introduced on January 26, 2009 and referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions where it awaits further consideration. Please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should this legislation reach the Senate floor.
Again, I appreciate your taking the time to share your views. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future regarding other matters of interest or concern to you.
