Suggestions for the Daily Paul

Michael, I've got some suggestions. Some of these are small, but I'm certain the users would like them. Please take them into consideration.

  • Make a block that would have today's posts with the most comments. This would help the site live up to it's name.
  • Limit the number of characters without a space. Sometimes people post a long string of text with no spaces for a title and it makes the site wider and momentarily annoying to navigate.
  • Use the Poll Module. This would generate more activity on the Daily Paul, and could motivate more action for the liberty movement (i.e. Have you taken part in the phone/email/fax bombs?, preferrably not questions that split the movement like Do you believe 9/11 was inside job?). I would also recommend posting the most recent poll on only the homepage (maybe in the middle column in between ads, so people will look at that column [honestly, I usually skip past it with my eyes since it is advertisements]) and a link to previous polls in the Primary Links Menu.
  • Bring the Navigation Menu up in the column and disable the Create Content link while adding a Create Forum Topic link since that is the only content we can create.
  • It would be better if there were more Forum Topics (maybe 20-25) displayed in the Active Forum Topics block, and fewer blogs (maybe 5) in the Recent Blog Posts block. The Forum Topics make this site, and blogs are rarely added. Right now the oldest blog was posted over a month ago (June 10).
  • A page dedicated to just videos would be nice. You could have moderators embed them into the page. The Videos Forum is a great place to find good videos. This way you could create a library of great videos for people to watch all on the same page.
  • Allow us to tag (taxonomy) posts with subjects like Rand Paul, Federal Reserve Bank, HR 1207, etc. Using tags, you can have a Similar Posts block next to each post. This can help keep people clicking on the site.
  • The time should be listed on the node and comment posts.
  • Bookmarking posts would be handy. We could all have a list of posts that we like.

I've created sites using Drupal before. http://the-new-is.com is my latest site. I'd be willing to volunteer help for the Daily Paul.
