My mom
told me once that my dog was not equal to me because he was an animal. It broke my heart, but like a human, I believed her. Most of my life I struggled with this 'fact". Four dogs, and twenty years later I woke up one day and thought "Why the hell am I better than my best friends?" and I answered to myself "Life is not judged by the size of the brain". And now I know. It feels so much better.

I would argue
