If you have considered cutting the ties that bind your homestead with the unpredictable future that correlates with grid dependence, then you’ve probably also thought about how you would sustain your family’s dietary needs.
You have already stocked up on plenty of food, water and various supplies to protect your family in case of a grid-down emergency. But you know as well as anyone else does that if the grid stays down for too long, then those supplies are not going to last, and you will have to think of other ways to ensure that your family stays fed.
If you are already living on a homestead furnished with a pond, then you are living with a valuable resource. Having a productive watering hole with a bountiful fish population to supplement your family’s food needs can be a priceless commodity, but if you don’t keep a close eye on it, a lot can go wrong.

It will not shock readers to hear that quite often legislation on Capitol Hill is not as advertised. When Congress wants to do something particularly objectionable, they tend give it a fine-sounding name. The PATRIOT Act is perhaps the best-known example. The legislation had been drafted well before 9/11 but was going nowhere. Then the 9/11 attacks gave it a new lease on life. Politicians exploited the surge in patriotism following the attack to reintroduce the bill and call it the PATRIOT Act. To oppose it at that time was, by design, to seem unpatriotic.
At the time, 62 Democrats voted against the Act. On the Republican side there were only three no votes: former Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), former Rep. Butch Otter (R-ID), and myself.
A Bright Sun Is Gonna Shine
Changing the world for your future and mine,
Surely, a bright Sun is gonna shine,
The prophet of doom has always been wrong,
Likewise the balladeer's funeral song,
We're gaining momentum; we're moving along,
Unafraid of Leviathan, he's not so strong.
Our movement is spreading throughout the whole Earth,
It's a re-awakening; it's a rebirth,
We demand peace abroad and peace within,
False flags will no longer sucker us in,
Filling every thought and every breath,
Saying "yes!" to liberty and "no!" to death.
We can't be stopped; we're standing tall,

A disturbing, decades-old letter sent to Martin Luther King Jr by the FBI is serving, for many, as a reminder of the scope and history of US governmental surveillance programmes - and their potential for abuse.
Heavily redacted versions of the 1964 letter have been available for years, but an uncensored copy was recently discovered by Yale historian Beverly Gage. Now revealed are brazen threats to smear King by making details of his numerous extramarital affairs public and hints at an audiotape that may have accompanied the letter.
Are all of these deaths (suicides, murders, and untimely deaths) simply random events?

WASHINGTON — Senator Rand Paul is calling for a declaration of war against the Islamic State, a move that promises to shake up the debate over the military campaign in Iraq and Syria as President Obama prepares to ask Congress to grant him formal authority to use force.
Mr. Paul, a likely presidential candidate who has emerged as one of the Republican Party’s most cautious voices on military intervention, offered a very circumscribed definition of war in his proposal, which he outlined in an interview on Saturday. He would, for instance, limit the duration of military action to one year and significantly restrict the use of ground forces.
Unlike other resolutions circulating on Capitol Hill that would give the president various degrees of authority to use force against Islamic militants, Mr. Paul would take the extra step of declaring war — something Congress has not done since World War II.
Hey everyone, I'm so ecstatic right now. I have this natural high that you can't get from any drug. I'm just so proud of myself and only my DP Family can fully appreciate why.
I've been doing a few projects around the house lately to alleviate some stress and boredom. In October, I decided I was finally gonna start a garden and become a little more self-sufficient. I started collecting 5 Gal. buckets from work and picking up potting soil every week. I planted and I hoped, and it grew and grew.

No Rules School: The headmaster throwing out the rules for breaktime
It's every child's dream and every parent's nightmare: no rules at break time. But at Swanston School in Auckland, principle Bruce McLachlan's radical experiment is to throw out the playground rulebook.
"The need to wrap up our kids in cotton wool is actually taking away a lot of learning opportunities", says pioneering principal Bruce McLachlan. Here, not only are the kids allowed to climb trees, skid around on bikes and fire makeshift weapons, it's encouraged. McLachlan's only direction: "Don't kill anyone". As a result he claims the children are much more receptive, confident and cooperative.
Scholars will debate till time merges with the singularity the merit and validity of presidential decrees, signing statements and executive orders. But no one can argue with the proclamations of an emperor - particularly when that emperor is Norton 1: First Emperor of the United States (& Protector of Mexico.)
the emperor frequently rode a bicycle when checking on the welfare of his subjects
Joshua Abraham Norton was born in England, raised in South Africa, and came to settle in San Francisco USA in 1849, where he lost his fortune, lost his mind, and finally declared himself 1st Emperor of the United States. The 2008 short film 'If I Were Emperor Of the United States...' (Emperor Norton's Decree) tells the story weller than I could:
“Gang stalking” – also known as “organized stalking” – is a slang term for a set of tactics used in counterintelligence operations involving the covert surveillance and harassment of a targeted individual. The goal of such operations – in the parlance of counterintelligence personnel – is to “subvert” or “neutralize” an individual deemed by a government agency (or corporation) to be an enemy.
“Organized stalking” is probably a better term than “gang stalking” since it more accurately conveys the systematic nature of the crime, and it avoids creating the erroneous impression that the activity is connected with street gangs.
RONAN FARROW, MSNBC: John McCain reaching for the worst possible insult for President Obama earlier this year said this: "I have never seen anything like this in my life. I thought Jimmy Carter was bad, but he pales in comparison to this president in my opinion." The serious question is, what does is it feel like, and what is your response to, these moments of being used as an insult? Your legacy being used as an insult.
PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER: That's a compliment to come from a war monger... I was lucky enough when I was president to keep our country at peace, and provide peace for others. I was lucky enough to go through my four years, we never shot a bullet or dropped a bomb or fired a missile.
Washington (CNN) -- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will step down from his position, a senior administration official confirmed to CNN Monday.
The White House announced that Obama will make a personnel announcement from the White House State Dining Room at 11:10 a.m. The New York Times reported Monday morning that Obama asked Hagel to step down last Friday, seeking to reassure critics of the President's foreign policy with the move.
