Koch brothers fund campaign against police militarization

Left-leaning American politicos often complain about the political activities of the “evil” Koch brothers. They argue that George and David Koch use their disproportionate wealth to bend the American political system to suit their will. However, mainstream media outlets rarely point out the types of causes that the duo advocate for with their hard-earned wealth.

The Server Needs To Die To Save The Internet - Article on MaidSafe

Tip of the hat to Ernest Hancock, and the DP's Joη for this great article.

Do we have the Internet we deserve? There’s an argument to say that yes, we absolutely do. Given web users’ general reluctance to pay for content. We are of course, paying. Just not with cold hard cash, but with our privacy — as digital business models rely on gathering and selling intel on their users to make the money to pay (the investors who paid) for the free service.

Users are also increasingly paying with time and attention, as more ad content — and more adverts masquerading as, infiltrating and degrading content — thrusts its way in front of our eyeballs in ever more insidious ways. Whether it’s repurposing our friends’ photos and endorsements to socially engineer selling us stuff, or resorting to other background tracking and targeting tricks to divert our attention from whatever it was we were actually trying to do online.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I had a nice long talk with Ernie Hancock of Freedom's Phoenix today, and he encouraged me to watch ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’ He said, "you’ll understand why when you see it."

I searched the DP for any discussion and turned up one post, but no discussion

When Ernie says something I take note. He said, "It is all about the database and the metadata, and this is where we are heading."

Anyone here seen it? If so, please let us know what you think.

Remember the first time you label someone, a liberal, a democrat, a republican, a conservative, you just closed their mind to

what you have to say. Labels are earplugs, don't forget that.

Labels were designed by the elites to keep us separated from communicating different views with each other.

We are Americans with differing viewpoints, don't cut off the knowledge someone may receive by labeling them.

Rand Paul WSJ oped: How U.S. Interventionists Abetted the Rise of ISIS

By RAND PAUL
Aug. 27, 2014 6:35 p.m. ET

As the murderous, terrorist Islamic State continues to threaten Iraq, the region and potentially the United States, it is vitally important that we examine how this problem arose. Any actions we take today must be informed by what we've already done in the past, and how effective our actions have been.

Shooting first and asking questions later has never been a good foreign policy. The past year has been a perfect example.

Monsanto's Worst Nightmare Coming True: The Rise of GMO Labeling

Activists against GMOs just might take down the biotech giants after all. GMO labeling could soon be a sweet reality.

Last week, Colorado broke a new record by bringing 16,950 signatures to a GMO labeling campaign for fall’s election, more than double the qualifying signatures needed to make sure that GMO labeling is on the ballot. This huge message to Monsanto accompanies a similar campaign in Oregon, all while the biotech industry awaits approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for more Agent Orange chemicals (2,4-D) to be used where glyphosate has failed.

The Importance of Gold

It's Our Currency And Our Problem

Most Americans don't understand that gold is not an investment- it is an asset or an insurance policy.

Gold is money.

A country's currency not backed by gold is only as good as the soundness of its monetary and fiscal policy.

The real cause of the California drought: The Government

California’s San Joaquin Valley is the salad bowl of the world, providing the majority of fruits and vegetables for the entire nation. But, with another man-made drought looming, the San Joaquin Valley is in danger of becoming a dust bowl unless immediate action is taken to change policies that put the needs of fish above the livelihood of people.

House Republicans have a bipartisan, comprehensive solution to end future man-made droughts, bring job and water supply certainty to the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys in California and decrease reliance on foreign food sources.

CNN caught red handed covering up CDC whistleblower stories

(NaturalNews) While CNN salivates over the news potential of an African-American teen being shot by a police officer, the network deliberately censors any news of the systematic medical abuse of African-American children by the CDC and the vaccine industry. That's the startling revelation which has now surfaced from recent events.

Following the explosive story of a key CDC scientist and whistleblower going public with his admission that the CDC committed scientific fraud to bury the truth about MMR vaccines causing autism, CNN has twice censored citizen journalists who posted well-cited stories on CNN's iReport website.

Swiss will vote on Nov. 30 for gold backed Franc

http://www.againstcronycapitalism.org/2014/08/will-the-swiss...

If the voters of Switzerland do choose to back their currency with gold I promise you that there will be MUCH more interest in the Swiss franc.

A gold backed currency? What a crazy concept. My bet is the market will love it. The banks will hate it, but overall the Swiss people will benefit. So will the non-Swiss who are paying attention now.

Switzerland yet again shows that it is the most sane nation-state on Earth.
