Self-delusion, dangerous for an individual, is a catastrophe when it engulfs much of a nation, spurred on by its leaders.

I recently met Congressman Steve Lynch (Mass.) one morning and asked him about Obama and Libya. Though opposed to the president’s decision, he does not think what Obama has done by attacking Libya without Congressional approval amounts to 'high crimes and misdemeanors', the criteria for impeachment.

I don't usually go out of my way to plug fundraisers but imo antiwar.com is the only strong distinctly anti-interventionist source of information. From Justin's Raimondo's 'rant' (his words), below, it won't survive without some cash. If you can, consider helping out.

Because recent judicial nominations in Massachusetts proposed by Governor Patrick have run into healthy opposition there is push by some political insiders to eliminate the Governor's Council, an elected body of eight with the power to approve or reject nominees.

The Governor's Council should be strenthend not eliminated. In this video from Greater Boston's Emily Rooney Senator Brian Joyce argues that nominees are vetted by 'experienced bodies' - a secret process by the Judicial Nominating Committee (all lawyers) and the trade group of lawyers from the Bar Associations. The Governor's Council is the only opportunity for the public to have a say in who sits on the bench in Massachusetts.

The public nomination hearing before the Mass. Governor's Council of Roderick Ireland to be the new Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court will take place at the State House on Dec. 1, at 10 AM, in the State House Hearing Room B-2.

This hearing is extremely important as the Chief Justice of the SJC has a direct influence over all Massachusetts courts.

For those who can still put two and two together, the Ft. Hood killings look like the beginning of a long term bloodletting in our country, an unnecessary travail we will be forced to suffer unless we reverse US foreign policy blunders.

If Obama decides in the coming weeks to send rather than bring troops home from Afghanistan he will be throwing away perhaps the last best chance to reverse a destructive foreign policy course likely to end in more ruin for the United States.

TOWN HALL FORUM ON HEALTH CARE REFORM

Congressman Stephen F. Lynch has postponed the open forum sponsored by Curry College scheduled for tomorrow evening out of respect for the passing of Senator Kennedy. The Forum would have conflicted with visiting hours for Senator Kennedy being held at Kennedy Library. The forum will be rescheduled for Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00 -8:00 p.m.
