If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows ~
Submitted by cyndezu on Sat, 03/26/2011 - 12:53There is a persistent rumor suggesting that as the British army surrendered after the Battle of Yorktown, they played a song called "The World Turned Upside-Down". According to Dennis Montgomery, no one knows for sure. Perhaps not, but I love the lyrics that might have been played by the defeated redcoats.
If buttercups buzz'd after the bee
If boats were on land, churches on sea
If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows
And cats should be chased into holes by the mouse
If the mamas sold their babies
To the Gypsies for half a crown
If summer were spring
And the other way 'round

Faithful readers of this column are very familiar with my call to locate a modern-day "Black Regiment." The Black Regiment was a moniker affixed to those patriot preachers of colonial America who thundered forth the message of liberty and freedom, and without whose leadership our War for Independence would never have been waged--or won. One can see our Black Regiment web page here.( http://chuckbaldwinlive.com/home/?page_id=23 )

The Tea Party in Utah flexed its muscle over the weekend and booted longtime establishment Republican senator, Bob Bennett, from office. Hooray! (Now, Arizona, please do America a favor and show John McCain the door!) Unfortunately, Tea Party activists were unsuccessful in Indiana, as longtime establishment Republican, Dan Coats, defeated the principled patriot, John Hostettler. Boo!
He can actually win!

...During the 2008 Fox News Debate, an anchor brought up the dilemma, “Congressman Paul, another question about electability. Do you have any sir?” There followed raucous laughter and ridicule at the congressman’s expense. But Ron Paul patiently let the laughter pass over him and then made his passionate point, that he would win when the American people began to see the truth. Well, it has begun to happen.

Is The Day Of Great Leaders Past?

A recent column co-authored by John Eidsmoe and Ben DuPré struck me. They titled their column, "What makes a 'great' president?"
The basic thrust of the column was to examine the qualities that make one a "great" President. They start by examining the Presidency of our 11th President, James K. Polk. They note that Polk is commonly regarded as being one of America's top 12 greatest Presidents. To use their words, "between eighth and 12th among our greatest presidents."
