CIA warned Bush administration of impending attack (for the 9/11 truthers)

"The direct warnings to Mr. Bush about the possibility of a Qaeda attack began in the spring of 2001. By May 1, the Central Intelligence Agency told the White House of a report that “a group presently in the United States” was planning a terrorist operation. Weeks later, on June 22, the daily brief reported that Qaeda strikes could be “imminent,” although intelligence suggested the time frame was flexible."

I watched Madame Secretary

I was curious about this show because the role of Secretary of State sounds pretty interesting if a person was ethical and competent. Of course, the preview played up the idea that this person had real intelligence and skill.

The main character is a former CIA Analyst. After watching this I Googled Madam Secretary vs Hillary Clinton. Most of what I found was something about the show being based off of Hillary Clinton. I thought watching the show gave me exactly the opposite idea that the show was a direct contrast to Hillary-The-Lawyer's stint as Secretary of State.

The Dome of the Rock

[Please don't attack me...with words or negative votes. I'm posting on behalf of several people too afraid to do so; and for many others who no longer come here. I'll try to be very brief.]

1. Has anyone here personally been to the Dome of the Rock?

2. Were you fearful for your safety going through the outer brick wall security when questioned by armed soldiers who didn't understand English (or 'your' language?)

3. In the decade you visited, did you feel like you were in the middle of a war zone? And could be hurt/shot at any time? Mostly by accident by the many armed soldiers leisurely? standing and talking all around you, everywhere?

4. Do you think possession/control of the rock is a big reason for the on-going fighting in the area - world-wide? And most people don't realize it? And this has been going on for thousands of years? (I need help with my words.)(a documentary seemed to state this and it seems somewhat true when seeing the fighting amongst the locals, the governments, posters on different forums, and the DP.)

Thank you for your input and knowledge. I tried very hard to use non-descript words so as not to cause additional fighting or attacks.

Should Israel Join The Coalition?

Where is our "best friend" in the Middle East when America needs all the help we can get? Israel should be the first to sign up to "degrade and destroy" the Terrorist if they really are a world threat, as we've been told and retold and ... Doesn't the US seek to dominate the ME to secure the "Holy Land" for Israel? Seems like Israel should have a dog in this fight too.

My Serious Gambling Problem

When I was 15 I started on this whole Libertarian / Ron Paul kick. I am now 10 years deep.

It all began with me questioning my conservative dad on abortion. I still don’t know exactly where I stand on abortion. Which leads me to ask this community, and I hope I can get some serious though out responses, what is the libertarian argument for gambling. Obviously the argument will be made that it is a moral issue, and government should not legislate morality, in that it creates a criminal class. I get it. SO this is the real crux.

Carol Paul's Cookbook - Recipe Question

Here I am, halfway through trying out the Oaties recipe from the Ron Paul Family Cookbook of 2014, page 3, and part of it is missing from the publication.

The only thing I found by searching was a complaint on Amazon about it. Does anybody have the missing instructions? It's too late for me on this batch, but I'd sure like to know.

...and to the Republic!

Obama reciting/leading the Pledge of Allegiance:

How is it that one pledges their allegiance to a symbol standing for a form of government (Republic) they do not affiliate themselves with or run under in their political, presidential candidacy?

What is Good and does it Exist?

Hi Dailypaul members,

What is good and does it exist? If so is there a definitive standard of goodness? Would you consider yourself a good person? Is anybody really a good person?

When will the dollar collapse? (Trying to Time a Gift)

Our Expectation for the Economy
Over time, as our debt rises, creditors will become less enthusiastic about financing our spending. Washington's approach to this problem will probably be to print more (instead of spend less). Supply of dollars will rise.

Over time, as our economy remains lackluster, foreign investment in our assets will decline - as will demand for dollars (in which those assets are denominated).

Bottom line: increased supply and decreased demand will bring severe devaluation to the USD.

My Question
I am planning a gift of precious metals to someone important. I do not want them (necessarily) to sell the precious metals now (with the values relatively low).

Question about the House and Senate races?

I have heard very little about how the House races are progressing. It appears they have this Country distracted with the Senate seat races. Is anyone keeping track of the House? If the GOP gets control of the Senate, are the Democrats going to in turn get control of the house?

Honestly, I have to say that other than Obama's Executive Orders, this stalemate has actually been the best thing for the Country. Are we looking at another couple years of stalemate because the Dems might get the House? I am truly curious how those races are coming along if anyone is keeping track of it.

How would you describe "waking up" or being "awake"...

So there I was the other night, harvesting my first ever brew of kombucha, when I realized, "I haven't been this excited in years." I mean,I really had no business being that giddy. Later, it had me thinking about my life and the several stages I have been through, and wondered what the future would hold. I started feeling grateful because I was so happy I became "awake" early in life.

I got to thinking about what it ment to be awake and had a hard time figuring it out. Is it simply a perception "shift"? Is it diet related? Is it just a human trate that activates at adulthood?

Need help identifying Itty Bitty Silver and Gold Round

While recently going through a box of old family photos a tiny leather sleeve fell out from among the photos and I investigated the contents. Turns out my father had saved a tiny silver and gold round that I was unaware of and it has now landed in my possession without knowledge as to its origin.

Does your state charge sales tax for precious metals?

Washington State has a sales tax but does not impose it on the purchase of precious metals.

This is quite interesting and it supports the argument that gold and silver are indeed money.

But several states do charge sales tax on precious metals.

How about yours? Thanks for any information you offer.

If I get enough good information from the various states I will post how each state operates regarding precious metals sales.

~~~~~~~~Interesting Side Note~~~~~~~~~
A few years ago in a committee meeting, Dr. Paul asked Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke if gold was money.
Firearms and US residents?
Hey guys, just curious about the legal firearm 'rights' of poeple in the US who may not be citizens?
First of all, I guess I'm not clear on if there is a legal status of 'resident' that is separate from citizen, or being on some sort of visa.
In any case, is there a 'resident' status for poeple in the US, and if so, what, if any, firearm freedom do they have when it comes to ownership and/or carrying?
