A 5th Libertarian will appear on the DC ballot, Capitol Hill resident Pranav Badhwar, running for the Ward 6 city council seat. Badhwar, a Hill resident since 2003, is married and the father of two. A senior product manager at a telecommunications firm, he was a 2012 Ron Paul delegate. Badhwar is the son in law of Austrian economist Larry White, the author of "Competiton and Currency."

One of the more jaw-dropping moments to emerge out of 60 Minutes’ profile piece on the National Security Agency yesterday was when NSA Director Keith Alexander had to ask permission from his superiors on whether or not he could answer a question.
Whether you see it as a 'sign of the times' we are living in, or abuse by the doctors who prescribe them, antipsychotic drug use for children is on the rise. Overprescription of these drugs has become so widespread that even the American Psychatric Association has announced a cautionary warning against the routine prescribing of these drugs. The poor and minorities are more affected by the routine prescriptions, as they may not have access to a mental health professional.

WASHINGTON – It’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the budget deal.
“Embrace the suck,” House minority leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told fellow Democrats Thursday morning, a source told Politico.
“We need to get this off the table so we can go forward,” she added. It’s a way of telling her colleagues the budget deal negotiated with Republicans is the best they can get.

Sen. Rand Paul added his name to the list of lawmakers opposing the bipartisan budget deal carved out between House and Senate negotiators, saying it is “shameful” to restore previously agreed to spending cuts in exchange for promises of future deficit reduction.
Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican and likely 2016 presidential contender, said that the two-year spending proposal is like many that have come before it.
