Have you noticed how a lot of pundits and politicians belittle Ron's positions as libertarian rather than conservative? Here's a way to shut them up.
The following is from an interview of Reagan by Manuel Klausner in the July 1975 issue of Reason Magazine:
I'm a graduate student at a Midwestern seminary working under a politically liberal (and religiously liberal, for that matter) undergraduate Bible/New Testament professor. First off, I must say that I have the ultimate respect for him, and that his interpretation of many matters of the Bible and life in general are as good as it gets. Now, he doesn't flaunt his political views in public, but in private conversations it's become clear that we have very different ideas about how to achieve the same ends - morality in business, empowerment of the poor, the education gap, etc.
Battle of Orlando is Over! Florida is the graveyard of frontrunners. Thanks to you who voted at straw poll.Submitted by hectorinmiami on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 02:09
BE PROUD: Florida Straw Poll has shaken the establishment
Yes, Cain won by a landslide. Even with Ron Paul placing 5th, what happened is very good.
85% of all delegates this past weekend said NO PERRY!!! And 71% said NO to BOTH Perry and Romney. So who is third after those two in national polls? You guessed it, Ron Paul. Paul has the most to gain from these two campaigns collapsing.
Don't focus on the complaints that have been made that the Ron Paul campaign could have done more of this or that. Maybe its true but it was impractical to think he'd win. This was a $175 a ticket straw poll with a short and restricted registration setup plus you had to travel to the location to cast your ballot (many people were put off by the nearly 1,000 mile drive to and back which was my case as well). In fact, most people at P5 just wanted to see and hear Ron Paul in person so winning was not a priority.
Just remember the most important news out of Orlando: Perry is Toast and Ron Paul is HOT! How sweet it is that Florida is the graveyard of frontrunners :-)
Someone said that paying the $175 is like "paying a bribe to the war party of Florida." How bitter and discouraged was that guy? Clearly, he or she did not know what they paid for.
Let me remind you...
One of my first favorite Libertarian videos. I do believe a small child would understand this.
Why don't corporations support libertarianism?
We've heard all too often that libertarianism would lead to corporate rule, corporate abuses, and other supposed evils of an unregulated free market. If this is indeed the case, why don't corporations support candidates with libertarian principles?
In 1975, Ronald Reagan stated, "I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism."
If Ron is asked about Reagan formerly being a Dem, he can say how the Dem party left him, and he reluctantly parted ways with Reagan on non-libertarian policies.
Authoritarian Attacks Libertarians
by Andrew Walker
Paul has come under attack again, this time by a columnist who assumes that it's okay and perfectly within the media's capabilities to totally ignore Ron Paul, but instead take Bachmann and co. seriously.
On this specific occassion, Paul's remarks on Fox News Sunday are in question, especially in regards to his statements about Hurricane Irene and FEMA. There is also a short reference to the tired and stale "newslettergate" scandal with Paul in the 90's, as the columnist is black.
'Libertarianism' is being thrown around to describe Ron Paul, again.
Unfortunately, the term conflates types of libertarianisms, the political and moral varieties especially.
In order to reach social conservatives, I think that it is important to make the distinction - and frequently.
A political libertarian, such as Ron Paul, could be more accurately called a classical liberal. A political libertarian holds that the federal government should play a very limited role - if no role - with respect to social and moral issues, like marriage.
