You should read "Economics in One Lesson" by Henry Hazlitt; it's a quick read , and very easy to comprehend for a novice student of economics (such as myself).
Another good, and quick read to brush you up would be chapter 4 - "Economic Freedom" - of RP's book "Revolution: A Manifesto"
