- saying it with respect - utter foolish. Where have you ever heard Bill Kristol, David Frum etc. criticizing the Fed, the financial enabler of the wars?
Rand has stated he would have voted against the war in Iraq. With regard to Afghanistan, he should IMHO just be more differentianted and point out it is not against the country itself - that did not attack the US - but against the military training camps of Al Qaeda, which would be a legitimate target, and his father also voted for that. DO you really know what neoconservatism is? You sound like Eric Dondero, who relaly also has no real clue. Listen to Doug Bandow, he differentiates between hawkish conservatives and neoconservatives. The neocons are often socially liberal and believe int he welfare and warfare state. They also appeal to patriotism (false patriotism) and disregard the constitution. They would never say the US's biggest export product is its debt for instance.
Why don't you ask Alex Jones if he mistrusts Rand? He boasted all over how long he has known not only Ron Paul, but also the whole family, including Rand and Rand was also in Texas for a while and went to school there.

Messamore has a very good account of the relationship and good article.
So Rand - like Ron - Paul does not believe the US was behind 911 and thus they do not necessarily believe allt he Gitmo prisoners are necessary innocent. They should he triad one way or the other and Rand Paul has already stated they should have been tried a long time ago. He also did not call for Gitmo to be open forever. It is perfectly conceivable that he meant they should be tried and those convicted be held in Git mo for the time being and then be sent to the Middle East for instance.
