Speaker holds too much power.
The question is, is he willing to wield it to fix everything and then return that power to the chamber at large where it belongs so the fixes will be difficult if not impossible to undo?
Precisely because he may NOT want the power or position is why he should have it.
And if he is willing to use the power of the office correctly, not only will he set a precedent for future Speakers to follow, but those who wish to sabotage him will have a hard time doing so.
