It is a hard choice to make, but I think you will benefit significantly once you get past the first few weeks. I've had dependency issues with booze and pot on and off for the last few years, but I finally realized that alcohol was beginning to effect my health in some serious ways. In my experience, exercising (weight training or running in my case) was THE BEST substitute for drinking/smoking. The exercise gives you a buzz, and afterwards you are much more relaxed and stress is reduced noticeably. You should give it a try!
