drinking to get high is a problem. Making ones own beer is like making your own bread. You don’t necessarily eat the whole loaf in one sitting. For me I savor the taste and the satisfaction of making my own. I ration it through the week, so I have it to drink with my homemade chili or steak and ale soup (made with my fermentation). It is hard to make enough beer to drink to get drunk every other night. Once you savoir the fruits of your own labor … you put a higher value on what you make; and you are more likely to conserve and share. There is some effort to making your own … I can’t imagine wasting it on a one night binge … for me it is more valuable to use just as an appropriate refreshment with food and friends.
