I think this is a huge part of the confusion surrounding Wikileaks:

Some are even too scared to look at the Wikileaks website for fear that the US government has said that it may be a crime just to look at classified documents without proper authourization!

People have been intimidated and are now afraid to go to Wikileaks and study it themselves. Furthermore, most people are not in the habit of devoting a substantial amount of time to one particular website, especially not a sober one. Therefore, most people are not that well acquainted with Wikileaks. They are only acquainted with what is being said ABOUT Wikileaks- yet they speak with firm conviction, as if they are experts on the matter.

So we have a lot of hard-headed ignoramuses, and people who will parrot whatever decree is handed down from Alex Jones.
