This is the reality of war

from which the public is dutifully shielded by the media. If these stories and images, and many others like them, were published in the major newspapers and on the networks, the war would have ended long ago. No parent, seeing this video, would encourage his or her child to join the military.

It is very easy to support war, torture and the like from a distance, when the results are kept out of sight and out of mind, hidden behind patriotic slogans and numerical abstractions ("collateral damage").

How many people who glibly defend the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki would say so to the faces of the innocent children, women and men who were killed, burned and sickened by the radiation, and rendered homeless, hungry and thirsty? How many, knowing the outcome, would pull the trigger themselves?

AWARENESS is the antidote to so much evil. The government and media work to stop people from becoming aware, and to substitute a false reality for the truth. This is the reason for propaganda, and for all the euphemisms that comprise the political lexicon.
