Lost $50,000 in the 1907 panic. Who got my money?

Back when money was coined in silver, who got my money?

$50,000 I had deposited in Knickerbocker Trust. Awoke one morning to the alarm that something at the Knickerbocker had gone terribly wrong. Terror of terror... my money disappeared... Though properly accounted in their books, my money simply vanished.

I advised that a receivership would come to no good. I wrote a letter to the New York Times in protest... But, to no avail. My money vanished... And the receivership did nothing much beyond paying bankers to manage money that was not there.

It would have been cheaper to hire a harem.

1907. Regrettably mine... My $50,000 lost in Knickerbocker Trust
