To be honsest,

The reason this world is in such a mess, and the reason why so many go to bed hungry/poor/about to be poor / used / abused / striped of their rights, ect is because they are like sheep. They do not lead, but are herded. Now why are sheep able to be herded? Well, they are afraid of death. So they are consumed by primortial fear, and so are the majority of people. Once the country and world get over fear, then the small minority that realizes they can control the masses through that fear will be no more. Here is an example, in syria (or even here in the US) there will be a protest, and the riot police will come in outnumberd 20:1, but they still manage to get the protesters to disperse (they herd them.) If there was no fear, then the riot police would not even think about using force against anyone, for they would be trampled by the stampeed of protesters. However, one should never welcome force/agression. Only retaliation.
* here is an example of how the masses can control how people are treated by authority.

“When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.” – Dresden James
