People won't buy it,

and won't eat it.
So, the gov't swoops in and buys it up with money it steals from us(taxes), and then pushes it down the throats of our children in the gov't indoctrination centers(schools).

That about sums it up.

"No turkey and cheese sandwiches from home! No sir! We will take that away from your child and force him to ingest this filthy pink slime instead, because we want to continue getting our bribes from the food industry for buying their waste products with your money that we steal from you".
