I disagree. You're right that a lot of similar material is already available for free online. However, that would be similar material & not the same exact material, at least from what I see.

It appears that they are simply providing a valuable service for a fair price.

This is the free-market in action. If you prefer to do all of your own research then you're free to do so. Those who want this potentially higher quality content from vetted experts will probably find the annual fee to be very reasonable.

Here's something from their FAQ:

"The equivalent of a year-long course in Austrian (free-market) economics will be available in early summer."

I might join just to take that course.
