ANYTHING that a government CAN control, they WILL control in time. Therefore, it is wise to use a medium of communication difficult or impossible for a government to control, e.g. the atmosphere. When the InterNet was first released, I knew it was a mechanism for CONTROL. As a result, I've NEVER committed the majority of my resources to the InterNet because I knew that I would likely be abandoning it one day. That time has arrived. Because of this likelihood, I've hesitated committing resources to functions DEPENDENT on the InterNet as well. It's proven to be a smart route. This preemptive action by myself does NOT mean that the people shouldn't fight to preserve the InterNet's independence from meddling. We should try while pursuing other remedies.
