The story is the product.
The BUYERS of the product are the large corporate interests that pay for the stories.
You and I are simply passive consumers of the product produced for those willing to pay for it.
You make the mistake of thinking that somehow because we consume the stories and ultimately our dollars fund corporations which pay for advertising, that somehow the truth will be an inherent part of what we see. But there simply is no reason that that should be the case.
Those who OWN the media want the stories to be entertainling, so that we watch, but as long as we don't object loudly to being lied to - we will be lied to, in an entertaining way.
