Four years ago we all heard that the REAL patriot grassroots elements for R.P. in Alaska who were running the state (and doing very well) were shunted aside when the more liberal paid staff showed up. The same thing happened in MI, where we were polling 16%, and ended up with 6% after a housewife who never voted before was appointed state chair, and a Yale grad who worked on the GW Bush campaign in '04 was put in charge of SE Michigan (the pop. center.)
Apparently, the cops were called into the Alaska HQ, etc. Very messy. I remember Carol Paul telling me on the phone how we should keep this from Ron, because he was so tired and discouraged at the time that he might have just gotten done over it.
Were any of the people involved in that Alaska fiasco elected yesterday as Chair, V.C. or Secretary of the AK GOP? If so, which side of that dispute seems to have emerged yesterday in AK?
I am literally as far from AK as I can be and still be in the USA, so I want to make sure I have my facts straight.
If we are giving up a majority of delegates in some backroom deal in some states in order to claim/secure "other victories"--like State Party positions--it darned well better be that those seats are filled with people who the grassroots KNOWS FROM LONGSTANDING ACTIONS to be truly dedicated patriots, who put the Constitution above politics.
I have a convention in Maine to attend next week, and we are hearing SOME quiet rumblings about similar "deals" possibly being considered here.
I am not casting any aspersions on those elected to AK Chair, V.C., and Secretary in AK yesterday, as I know NONE of the names. Just being a good Boy Scout here....
