The funny thing is....
When I first arrived at the convention it was obvious to me - that a majority of the people in attendance resembled the Plastic men in that RP commercial. Then I happened to see a sign that said "XXX Tea Party meeting". I walked up the stairs to see if I could attend. Sure enough the lady outside the conference room invited me in. I felt much more comfortable around "these" people (Nice dressed - wearing jeans). Some guy was up there doing his best impersonation of Newt G. I almost walked out! Just then he ended his speech and split everyone up according to their chosen volunteer specialty. I just sat back and took it all in.
Long story short - I hung around and played nice with the "Tea Party" until it was time to attend the convention.
BTW - A big thank you to the person that put up the cheat sheet for Roberts Rules of Order. Without this Doc - I would not have had the courage to overcome the predetermined slate. I got to say it was funny to see the looks on their face when they realized there were a few in the audience that were going to make it a long night.
I cant wait to go to Detroit.
