... is designed to leave the convention/caucus/party in shambles rather than give up power.

Their tactics did the same thing in Iowa 3rd District. It made the convention take about three times as long as it needed to, without changing the results.

But as you noticed, the rank and file Romney delegates were not the source of the mayhem and would have been more than happy to have resigned themselves to the inevitable.

Its their "leaders" that insist on acting like a horse's patootie.
