They know that they'll never persuade us to support Romney.

And they know that we know this.

But (whenever they mention Paul at all) they always take this conciliatory tone and comment on how they're trying to bring us into the fold - they're not. But they need the GOP masses to think they are. It's not as if they can tell the faithful "Hey guys, Uh, since we lost the support of the Paulites, we will never be a competitive national political party again, so....wanna donate more money now?"

Nope, the truth about the new reality of the GOP will only dawn on the masses slowly, and the GOP establishment wants to keep that truth from them for as long as possible - at least until after Obama trounces Romney in November. But when that happens, we'll have another big opening to reach some disillusioned Republicans, as we did after '08. The future is ours.
