Comment: There Are Various Groups Within the Muslim & Arab World

My position on Islam, Muslims and Arabs:

1) There are, I believe, something like 1 plus billion Muslims. I believe that the vast majority of them are not Islamic terrorists - I don't know the percentage, but it is small. Still, with 1 billion people, even .1 percent (i.e,. one milion) is a lot of people.

2) Not all Muslims are Arabs and not all Arabs are Muslims (many are Christian).

3) Various groups and leaders within the Arab and Islamic world set out on an absolutist position vis-a-vis Israel, one that totally rejects it's legitimacy or any sort of compromise with it. For instance, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Nassar of Egypt, Hamas, Ahmadinejad.

Other leaders and/or groups found some sort of means of accommodation - such as Sadat, Mubarak and King Hussein of Jordan. There were even other Arab groups and/or leaders who were more positive about the idea of a Jewish state and/or were at least willing to work with it - most of these leaders were systematically assassinated.

4) My comments are directed towards those groups within the Islamic and Arab world which have kept up this war at all costs, not against all Muslims or all Arabs.

5) I believe that the greatest disservice anyone can do for the Arab and Muslim world is to turn a blind eye to the thuggery of these groups - it subjects millions of people to their thuggery. Non-intervention doesn't mean being naive - at least I hope it doesn't.
