When calling any public office always ask...

...ask for the name of the person you are speaking with and write it down, keeping a record of it. I think this is a good idea and maybe someone else might be able to think of more reasons why but for one, it always makes the person you are speaking with feel more personally accountable if they are giving out their full name. If they just give you their first name, ask, "Your full name please?"

Let them know you want to make note of who you are speaking with for "future reference" so that they know you are serious and that your call may not be the end of the matter.

Another reason to keep a record of their full name is for a point of reference for you to be able to contact the office again if need be and ask directly for the same person.

Any of the many excellent Ron Paul reporters out there feel free to elaborate on this topic!
