Does he really need to?
Hannity is not our cup of tea, but he sure is for a lot of Republicans. The youtube reach of the show is quite good as well. In short, it assures max viewership for the audience Rand wanted to reach, establishment Republicans.
It also fit the desired audience for the Romney camp I would imagine. Hannity was the perfect vehicle for such a distasteful announcement. Rand is a politician first, but I think his heart still is within the liberty camp. Think of him as a good double agent
