Rand wants to change the system from within... The changes which he makes are not important. But his turning back on his father has a very dangerous effect. Rand left us with a very ugly story, no drones or hemp or TSA can cover up the betrayal of his heroic father.
Dissapointed supporters lose their hope, and they are much less likely to join similar movement in the future.
Of course, Paul's family might have been threatened, which would be the only excuse for Rand's behaviour.
It is a real tragedy for Ron, because there is no good solution. But, he should look at it positively, he educated so many young people, one (Rand) less or more does not matter too much. "Bilderbergs" seem to have won this battle, but who knows why it's good...
