What in god's name - no pun intended - does religion have to do with morality? Religion is nothing more than government on a spiritual plane and has been just as immoral, destructive, and warmongering as any. I can't believe anyone would ever use the words moral and religion in the same sentence - even though I just did.
Morality is simply knowing the difference between right and wrong and it's scary to know there are people who don't know this and so look to religion for the answers. It's tantamount to the old "the law is the law" mindset: don't think for yourself, religion will tell you what's right and what's wrong.
The problem with the constitution or any charter is that it's just a piece of paper - as G. Dumbya pointed out - and is only as good as the morality of the men who take an oath to defend it.
And ever notice how most of those men are religious?
