A moral LAW which we will ALL agree to abide by (much like laws in Physics) can only come from a Single Authority; a Moral Law Giver, otherwise we are only left to our own decisions and feelings as individuals... It is not enough to AGREE that we say X is right and Y is wrong, because someone with eventually ask “Why?” Anyone who has ever been told “Because I say so.” knows how convincing that argument is (or ISN’T)
As Dr Ravi Zacharias pointed out: In some parts of the world people Love their neighbours and in other parts of the world they EAT them, both on the basis of feelings, do you have a personal preference? (BTW really well worth the time to hear him speak on LOGIC and THOUGHT... check him out RZIM.com)
We cannot have a LOGICAL difference of opinion on right v wrong when it comes to Liberty because our Liberty comes from Nature and Nature's God. If we do NOT agree on a Single point of Authority, then your opinion is good for you and mine is good for me... we've been doing that for, well, forever, but more so in the last century or so in this country.
God is the ultimate authority of the Moral Law and much like the Bill of Rights and our Constitution are supposed to be the authority of our Liberty. Some groups rise up claiming to be the representation of those liberties here in this country (Dems and Republicans) but we know that despite their statements of fidelity to the Constitution, they fail miserably or contradict much of what they claim to support, protect and defend.
THAT being said, there is a common problem with some of those who look to God. Many groups claim to be the representation of God's direction for us on this planet (several organized religions, but NOT all). We know that despite their statements of fidelity to God, they fail miserably or contradict much of what they claim to support, protect and defend.
Throwing all religion (organized or otherwise) out is much like throwing out ALL political groups or movements (organized or otherwise) which I am reasonably certain would include those of us flawed yet devoted members of the DP and the Liberty Movement.
An example of this country’s problem is this: 40 years ago, Abortion was illegal. Did that make Abortion immoral? Today, Abortion is legal... does that now prove it is moral? If all that changes or proves morality is a law, we are in big trouble. And BTW, we ARE in big trouble.
....where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY. 2 Corinthians 3:17(b)
