True, but the whole idea of "property" is an abstraction. We define property by the laws we enact. Laws can be written to protect IP just as they are to protect physical property. You're choosing to make an arbitrary distinction.
If I spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to invent a new machine, you would allow someone to steal all my effort... my labor and my resources. I see no difference from stealing my car.
