I felt it was responsible for me to one rebuke my Christian brothers. They should take the log out of their eyes instead of the speck in your eye. Two, I also explained that those who sin little love little. I sin a lot, therefore I love a lot. I have compassion because I know what Christ did for me by dying rectifying me before God. This is not from my own merit, but God's alone. This is called the Theology of the Cross. This is in contrast to Decision and Glory Theology. I have a feeling Christians who you meet subscribe to those two schools.
Finally even if you did resent me (not saying you do), that does not matter. I also had to reiterate that Christians are called to love those who hate them. People (like those who called you names) get so hateful that they lose sight of their compassion. Those were the points I wanted to get across.
Thanks for sharing man.
Note: I have a few gay friends. They know my positions on things, but respect my beliefs as I respect them.
May the LORD bless you and keep you
May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you
May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace
