No one in the LP is fool enough to believe a promise such as that, would be made in the first place. Getting Libertarians to go where you want them to has been famously and frequently compared to "herding cats."

As a frequent LP delegate, myself, I can tell you that the idea is ludicrous.

Yes, it makes total sense that Root, who was, then, new to the party, and is still far louder (and compares to a loose cannon) than the typical libertarian, would be utilized in a support capacity rather than pushed as a candidate this time around, the result you prefer for Romney, but the LP doesn't have the kind of "machine" that makes or breaks promises such as you suggest.
